Hello from Germany

Hello fellows!

I'm new to this forum and I'd like to introduce myself.
My name is Lars and I'm from Germany. In late 2008, I bought this 68 Catalina Hardtop with the 400ci engine in Richmond IL and shipped it to Europe. Before i got the car, it had only two pre owners and 75k miles on it. The last owner lived in Twin Lakes WI, but passed away shortly after I bought the car. In the last two years I only added 2k more miles to it. The car is in good shape and has been repainted some years ago. The interior is original and in mint condition. Anyway, I'm planning to start a complete restoration in the next two years. So at the moment, I'm collecting many parts and information.

And that's why I'm here, to find answers if there will turn up problems. In germany, we have a growing scene of US-car enthusiasts, but most drive Mopars.

Welcome Lars! Get a PHS on it so you know what you have. A Cat on the Autobahn should be fun!

Hallo Lars,

es gibt auch eine handvoll andere Pontiac-Fahrer aus Deutschland hier. Meiner Erfahrung nach die beste Informationsquelle für Pontiacs (besonnders auch full size) im ganzen Web.

Gut zu dir haben!

Leitwolf 11-23-2010 12:25 PM

Thx for the welcome.

I'm located in the "Ruhrgebiet" how we call it, in the city of Dortmund.

And it's nice to find some Germans here. There is no german community for Pontiac or even GM, as far as I know. Only the Mopar- und Mustang-guys are kind of organized in the web.

G'Day Lars,

That is one beautiful car you have there. I had the four door version many years ago in Australia, it was the Parisienne.
Those are interesting car mats you are using.:p

For those who don't speak/read/write German: There are a handful of other Pontiac-drivers from Germany. (this forum is ) Likely the best information point for Pontacs (particularly full size) in the entire web.

Grüße von Ohio. Ich wohne in Ohio, aber mein Herz ist immer in Fulda

Yep, my turkish flying carpets are being always mentioned by viewers. :) The cabin is quite big and sitting on the bench in the front feels like sitting in the living room. So why not add a living room carpet to feel more comfortable? Maybe some flowers and a TV are missing.

But I removed those rubber mats behind the rear wheels. They were stock, but looked even more stupid than the carpets.
