Finally it looks like someone is making them again. I emailed Mad Dog asking about round ports too. Thanks for posting that link!

I wish P zone would hurry up and give me permission to post so I could ask the guy what motor mounts he was using when the headers were made. In a couple pictures it looks like the motor is mounted as it was from the factory. Then in the next picture in has a plate on the front. So now I am scratching my head as to wether or not these would fit my car.

I emailed Mark "Mad Dog" yesterday. This is what I've gotten so far,
"I make a round port header in that design also. there not on the web site yet because its a new design.headers are mild steel and come unpainted. I sell the d-port and round port for $500. and shipping will be around $25. the round port header comes in1 3/4", 1 7/8" or 2" primary tubes. with 3 1/2" collectors." I just replied to his email asking about the motor mount setup. I'll let you know what I hear back. Troy |

Or you can just bye mine, 2" round port headers for g-body. Mine do not go around the frame like mad dogs do.

Candyman over on the other forum doesn't check things too often I suppose. Wish I knew another way to get ahold of him....

I think I can track him down. Have a buddy that talks to him. Will try and find out what starter he is running.

Find out if he is using the factory frame pads and engine mounts from a 301 or atleast was when the headers were built. This seems to be a big issue at hand right now.

Well I got a PM back from Candyman today. Here is what he had so say....
Hello mike yes they are 301 mounts they should fit in your car if you want any photos or have questions feel free to hit me up. the only probalm you might have is if your car sits really low. on the passenger side the number 4 tube runs really close to the control arm so if you race and the car wheelies more than a foot and a half the control arm might hit the tube but thats only if your car sits really low. the soultion i came up with was a front suspension kit from TRZ for more clearence but any cro-mo upper contol arm would work or ding the tube a little with a hammer. AGAIN THIS ONLY MATTERS IF YOUR RIDE HEIGHTS IS REALLY LOW. I hope this helps and if your not sure of anything just hit me up again and i will do all i can to help. |

Alright found out that the mounts used where stock 301. As for the starter no answer.

I have been talking with Candyman and he has been very informative. Hang tight everyone and we will get to what starter he is using.

The starter he is runningng is a Rob Mc. Any other question let me know and I will try and get a answer for you guys. Wish I could get a set but no money.

Maybe we can work with the moderator to get him freed up so he can post here. The info he has given to us has been helpful! I will try to get pictures along the way but I have a hard time stopping to take them when I am doing something! I miss all the Kodak moments along the way for some reason LOL. Maybe I can get the girlfriend to sit and watch and take them along the way.

FYI...
I have seen the '70-up Tri-Y headers used successfully more than once. Cheaper alternative...especially for 11 sec or slower rides.

Well my headers showed up today and I haven't saw them yet. I had them shipped to my dads as I didn't want them laying on the porch at my town house for everyone to see. From what I am being told from my dad, they look pretty nice(and he is picky). Something that I was not aware of is the front tube on the passenger side is a slip in tube. I won't weld it in for a race car but it is something to be considered for the street car folks. I will post more when I have more info.

It has to be a slip tube because it wraps around the frame. There is no other way to do it with these frames in a g-body car. Been there, that's why mine where custom made because I did not want one tube to go around the frame and nobody made a good set with the right tube thickness. Just because the passenger side sits a little forward.

The gentleman that had the first set made for his car contacted me to let me know that they do not go around the frame. They were made in two pieces so they could be installed without having to raise the engine to get them in the car. Hopefully this weekend I will get to putting mine on and get pictures up for everyone to see.

Well, I have mine on the car and took some pictures before removing them to get them coated. They fit wonderful and I believe a stock starter will still fit. They headers look like they are gonna be our header solution. The only spot I found that was tight was the drivers side collector flange is very close to the floorboard. I spoke with Mark and will be sending him pictures so he can adjust this on the next set. I will say Mark seems to be a GREAT GREAT guy to deal with and I am very happy with the work. I will get pictures up as soon as I can.
