That's a cool front-engine dragster! I was at that same truckstop off i40 just a couple weeks ago.

I believe I could squeeze in btween that GTO and the curb. It would be tight, but I could do it.

I've seen folks park in that spot (...not next to the GTO, but on other occasions).

The 67 Firebird had a cool story, the original owner lived in El Paso and the car was stolen in the 70s, well in the 80s it turned up in Juarez, but they had converted it to a Camaro RS and were trying to sell it in El Paso, the sheriff found out and confiscated it when they had a chance and brought it to a body shop where the current owner bought it and restored it to a Firebird

Here's my parking lot pic.

So it happened to be at last year's POCI convention. So what! lol!

Here's a '64 GP I saw in Cocoa Beach, FL last month at a "Storage Wars" auction.

Then, there's the dual quad '70 Hemi Challenger at the same auction that went for $69,000--but that's another story for another post--with the story. You'll see this one on Mecum or Barrett-Jackson in a year or two at $500K to $1 million.

Sooo BTT...here's a literal parking lot find I dug up from 1999 (hence the low quality image). I saw a twin sell to this one sell @ the recent 2013 Houston Mecum auction.

IIRC - I spoke to the teenage driver who had driven to the local ice-cream stand.

Note the factory 8-track on this all original 1971 GTO Convertible.

Here's a "double-dip" fitting the parking lot AND car show parking lot (garage) theme.

It's a late night photo I took at a Pontiac Southern Nats (PSN) meet @ the designated hotel parking garage.
I'd already edited it yrs ago with the "Night Stalkers" text. I found in the same achive file as the my prior images.

While driving from Grand Junction to Durango to ride the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Train;
I stopped for gas in Silverton.

Then took a quick drive through town, and found this parked on Main Street as you see it.

It was driving around full of people in the back the next day.

I'm getting better at stopping for a photo when I see something cool.
I got quite a few in two trips to the mid west last summer.

The '60 El Camino was a rough project at the same shop where the '59 was parked.

Now some Pontiacs. These are all paparazzi style.

I hope this is ok. Not a pic, but a youtube clip someone loaded up. Our club has a show each June. During the show we go for a cruise and last year we stopped in a car park next to a coffee place. Ended up on youtube... My GP shows up about a minute in. Some other Pontiacs too.

I'm always impressed at how well our cars are done in other countries. We've got it easy getting parts, compared to you guys.

This was in a parking lot...but it was staged. One of the many cars I sold over the years.

haha Ive seen that before, once a group of guys and I hiked from Durango to Silverton, we stayed like a week at the twin lakes past needleton.

Did you take the Durango-Silverton train and hop off to hike mid-way or elsewhere?
When stopping scheduled for boiler water refills and along the river, several hikers would exit.
Some for return that day, others a few days, or week later scheduled return.

Beautiful country from any aspect IMO.

we hiked up to needleton and took the trail up and back, then took the train to silverton and then train back to durango.

yea it was an amazing vacation

A 31 Plymouth 3 window. The owner paid 17K for the paint job. The car was built in 1 year. The person who built the car does 1 car per year. The top has a 3 inch chop.

thats an interesting little truck, how does the poncho fit?

Here's one from a couple years ago. Daily driver, and it appeared to have a carb fire at some point. Very rare seeing something like this in our area (suburbs of Chicago), as any regular driver older than about 1980, and not a cruise night/car show type of car, has rusted away.
