Which prompts a question....

Would it be possible to gift the prize to another member here? The reason I ask is that a number of us on the board who post regularly are relatively close and can/will easily drive and would be going regardless of winning. However, there are a number of members here who have had very difficult years, health, job, home & family wise who would not likely go unless they were to win, or be gifted the award.

So, regardless of who wins, can the award be gifted to another member by the winner?

+1

Yes..... That would be good info.....

I would also donate to a deserving member...

4dblnkldude 12-05-2011 09:08 PM

I was thinking about this, I would gift it to another member. Its about a 40 minute ride for me. And whats the point in staying in a hotel when I can sleep in my own bed?

R68GTO 12-05-2011 09:41 PM

My favorite guys on this forum are all the ones that live close to PY;)

Lloyd-TX 12-06-2011 09:25 AM

Great question, Chris!

Hows about it Chris (Casperson)?

David Jones 12-06-2011 09:31 AM

I'm excited.

68lemansman 12-06-2011 09:59 AM

I think regifting to a member is a great idea. Im only 15 min from Py and i would gift it to someone if I won!

bird72 12-06-2011 10:04 AM

I would think gifting it to someone is the kindest thing I've read. There are some people here who are really struggling, unemployed, personal loss, medical fights, etc.

Old Blue 66 12-06-2011 10:25 AM

I only enjoy car shows if my car is there. Otherwise, I just spend too much time missing it. If I were to win, Id find another member who would enjoy it. As much as I would love to go, there are others that might NEED a trip like this.

MOJO Catalina 12-06-2011 10:46 AM

I'm in NC.. Did I win?

Lloyd-TX 12-07-2011 01:08 PM

I'd most likely donate mine if I were to win, as my health and business obligations will most likely prohibit me from making it anyway.

Still nothing from Steve (dm fan), nor CCass concerning this question . . .

eric_cspan 12-07-2011 03:53 PM

We will not allow the winner to give away the prize because that could involve "selling" it to someone not even a member of the boards.

While I agree that it would be kind, we just have to cover ourselves.

If the winner does not want it, the prize will then go to the runner-up.

Region Warrior 12-07-2011 05:03 PM

Good, cause if i win, keep'n it.
Dont have to feel quilty now :D

Rugratman 12-07-2011 05:06 PM

But I only travel first class!

Quilty.. Is that all soft and warm and grandmother smelling-like?

Region Warrior 12-07-2011 07:03 PM

A very nice gesture. If something like this were to happen, there would be two winners. You'd get the cash, free entry, royal treatment etc etc, and we'd also pick another winner.
We're hoping that anyone that wins and can't make it, will notify us immediately and allow us to pick someone else.

Very noble gesture,Chris
I think I know who you(should you have won) would donate too

The way the numbers are dwindling I think someone might get this for Christmas.

There are several who could really use it, I'm not sure I would want the responsibility of making that decision. ;)

I would think the same thing. I hope it goes to somebody that needs it cause it can't be gifted!!

Lloyd-TX 12-13-2011 04:49 PM

P-3000 - as of this post . . .

Lloyd-TX 12-13-2011 06:28 PM

P-2900 . . .

goatless 12-13-2011 06:31 PM

I bet it goes sometime tomorrow evening.

The Boss 12-13-2011 07:03 PM

It'll be in the Friday Post.

Im not sure how I feel about these rules of what posts count and what dont. If the winning post isnt something that can be as bennificial to the forum than it doesnt win. And it cant be in certain sections of the forum. Just seems to be too much of a matter of opinion. Just like weather or not blue looks good on a 66 GTO vs red.

Its not my website so I ll keep it to myself, but Im not participating in this. Im just here and thankful that I am. Ive gotten a lot of great stuff off this forum. I just dont agree with post contest. Congrats to who ever the winner is.

The Boss 12-13-2011 07:22 PM

It will if you include a PY part number in it. ;)

Now, there's a plan . . .

dm_fan 12-13-2011 08:43 PM

It seems there is still some confusion about the forums sections and the 2 million posts.
The winning 2 millionth post can be in any section of the PY Forums. All posts in all of the sections add to the site's total posts (which is now approaching 2 million). It's the individual member post counts that only advance when you post in the tech sections.

So the 2 millionth post can possibly be in The Lobby and could possibly be in the Friday post. And we are only going to skip to the 2,000,001st post if the 2,000,000th post is something pointless.

I'm personally expecting it to be something like an online auction snipper fest. Everyone will be sitting there with 2 or more browsers open to the PY Forums. One browser on the main page with the counter that they will refresh as fast as their mouse will click. And the other browser(s) with a pretyped message that would be considered either informative, considerate, heartwarming or entertaining. Once the counter gets down to the last 10, everyone counts to 3 and submits their waiting post(s) and hope they snipped the 2 millionth spot.

I wonder if we can break the current Most Users Ever Online record at the same time we cross the 2 million milestone?

Good luck to everyone
Steve

Thanks for the clarifications, Steve.

And I'll wager you're correct - most users ever record WILL be broken. Hope your systems can handle the load!

Lloyd-TX 12-14-2011 12:00 PM

P-2200!

wytnyt 12-14-2011 01:43 PM

i for one wont be competing for the 2m post since i cant use it,and since i obviously cant be trusted to give it to a person that could use it.ive always thought i was a very honest person but apparently others know me better than i do myself
good luck to the member that does ''win'' it,,its a very generous gift at Christmas time.

Region Warrior 12-14-2011 01:56 PM

Judas 12-14-2011 05:20 PM

Just my 02, but I think it would be neater to hide the number when you get real close, like 1000 posts or so. That way it doesn't become a "post eBay" with people posting away and tap-dancing on the "refresh" button to see if they hit the target.

I totally agree with that. Make it a mystery until the 2 millionth is hit.
