You gotta drive a car from the year you were born, what would it be?

I'll start.
1966 Grand Prix. Black with red interior.
421 Tri-power. 4 speed.
Loaded to the gills.

BOB VIDAN 02-24-2012 10:56 PM

None were made when I was born, war years.

poncho-mike 02-24-2012 10:58 PM

It would be a 57 Corvette fuelie, either red/white or light blue/white.

Second choice would be a 57 T-bird or maybe a 57 Chevy Belair convertible.

RAJ7395 02-24-2012 11:04 PM

1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible 4-speed. Blue with black top, deck lid wing, fog lights, white interior, black dash and carpet.

1990 Dodge Caravan 2.5L Turbo with the 5 speed manual. Crank the boost and tune it will it can run 12's. Would surprise a ton of people. I'm not sure any other decent cars were available at the time without getting something like a fox body. (no thanks)

Hmmmm... I was born in October of 1970, so for the purposes of this question would I be driving a 1970 model or a 1971 since they would have been out by my birthday?:p

If 1970, I'll say RAIV 4 speed Judge in Orbit Orange.
If 1971, I'll go with a base T-37 with a 455 HO and 4 speed in Lucerne Blue.

hurryinhoosier62 02-25-2012 12:58 AM

I have to second it: '62 Catalina 421SD

Ben M. 02-25-2012 01:02 AM

That's a good point. I was born in August 1966, so I might be a '67 model.
Therefore I would drive a 1967 LeMans OHC Sprint convertible 4-speed. Silver with red interior. Again, loaded to the gills. And put Hurst wheels on it with redlines...

Jack Gifford 02-25-2012 02:16 AM

'40 Merc coupe. Only year the shape of the top differed from Ford- a little bit more "formal" looking. In my highschool days a guy in the next town had a beautiful one, stock-bodied but repainted aquamarine. When he swapped in an Olds V8 I got his "3/4 race" flathead for my '47 Ford tudor.

02Hawk 02-25-2012 03:43 AM

Probably should pick a '68 442 like I grew up in (Family had 2 in a row, first one bought new when my dad was stationed in my birthplace VA)

Really would like a '68 GTO Conv RAII 4 spd though

Current things I own from my birth year are a '68 4 spd Camaro and my AK

stevep 02-25-2012 07:08 AM

1958 Buick Roadmaster.

The Champ 02-25-2012 09:00 AM

Well, my first choice would be the 1954 Bonneville Special...

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/wp-cont...ecial-1954.jpg

But it might be a little hard to afford...

More affordable, but still expensive, the 1954 Buick Skylark...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3573/...6415f515ee.jpg

And I really want one of these - 1954 GMC 5 Window...

Didn't really care for a lot of the cars from 1957, either I would drive a leftover, my grandad's 1956 Packard 400 coupe, which I came home from the hospital in and still have, supposedly one of the last to roll off the Packard line.

OR, I always thought the 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk was cool, just because it really had a look all of it's own.

67drake 02-25-2012 09:42 AM

65' GTO 4-speed convertible. Midnight blue, black top and interior.
Found one in highschool, test drove it,and the old man wouldn't let me get it. The proverbial
"one that got away". Been waiting ever since.

If I didnt say '69 Judge, Id be very dissapointed with myself. But I would have waited until later in the model year to get a burgundy one.
