Found this for sale - not mine.

This is kind of interesting. I wonder how negotiable that price is?

Good lookin car.

c5farmer 03-11-2012 06:16 PM

tempest

$22,000 for that???? No front bumper, wrong headliner, etc. There are several others out there for sale in the $15,000 range that are better buys. As the guy says, google '63tempest and find out or, better yet, check this site under the cars for sale thread. Looks like a $10,000 range car to me.

TempestFugit 03-12-2012 09:24 AM

Amazing...

"... think about whens the last time you actually seen one of these LeMans in this clean original shape ? "

Clean original shape!? all the hard to find parts that would make it 'original' are either straight out of the J.C. Whitney catalog (steering wheel, radio, wheels), spray painted silver (sun visors, headliner), or missing all together (chrome, bumpers) I can imagine what is under the hood... (H.O.!?... Right!)

Spare me the history lesson... and the rarity, too... He compares it to something common like a chevelle or a camaro then he said he'd take a chevelle or camaro in trade...

beemergary 03-12-2012 10:16 AM

Racingjunk I am thinking racing or JUNK Real pontiac guys wouldn't fall for slicksalesman To be Old and Wise you had to be Young and Stupid

vin63 03-12-2012 02:11 PM

Poncho_Villa 03-29-2012 11:29 PM

TempestFugit 03-29-2012 11:37 PM

Can't tell anything from those pictures. The description is worse... is that hood pins?

mechanickeith 03-29-2012 11:54 PM

Saw that one today. Yes on hood pins. In Montana, wonder how much rust it has!

Poncho_Villa 03-30-2012 12:14 PM

"Buy it now" for 8K. Wow! That's ambitious.

Poncho_Villa 04-03-2012 10:48 AM

The vendor has added more pictures of this mess. I wonder what the reserve price is?

63Banshee 04-03-2012 10:54 AM

The last 326 3 spd coupe I bought in a little better condition was 3 grand. At least what I traded for it was worth 3 grand...

Buy it now is now down to $6K. Still ambitious...

beemergary 04-03-2012 11:24 AM

Notice there's some serious bidding going on. Guy needs to hold out on his price.

63Banshee 04-03-2012 11:40 AM

Won't argue with that. I'm holding out on my next wagon sale after seeing the last one on ebay go for over 6 Large.

Yeah, wrong tail lights...

Spearless, 326, 3 spd Lemans and it looks like it might be a tach car. Interesting enough.

Not mine! There are some good parts, and a whole lot of junk.

63Banshee 04-05-2012 10:56 PM

Saw that. Good deal for someone close.

mechanickeith 04-06-2012 12:12 AM

Looks a lot like one that was on a trailer in Norwalk last August!

63Banshee 04-08-2012 02:15 PM

That's right. Out of mine onto another. Might happen again this year....

63Banshee 04-08-2012 04:52 PM

Someone STICKY this thread, eh?

I've got parts for whomever buys the wagon. It's a great foundation for resto. Trans is rebuilt, as the ad says. If it were a stick shift I'd still own it...

It is TA-69's wagon. He bought it at Norwalk this past summer.

X2!!! Looks like it has a lot in the rockers also.

63Banshee 04-26-2012 09:30 PM

You know Keith, us guys in the South/SW are so spoiled with solid bodied cars... and I like it!

c5farmer 04-26-2012 09:48 PM

Rare???

Why is it that a lot of ads for a 61 thru 63 Tempests uses the word "rare"? Sellers must think "rare" justifys a ridiculous price for an average condition car....or they don't know what a rare car is. Our Tempests/Lemans are unigue but they are not ALL rare.

LOL!!! My car started out from Charlston Sc but has been in AZ for so long. I probably have less rust on my 50 year old car than a 2 year old rust belt car!!

Its "rare" to them because its probably the only one they have ever seen! Us in the "hobby" are used to it & have a pretty good idea what the going price should be for a rust bucket, builder, driver, original or restored car.

I do get a pretty good laugh from some of the for sale cars & the descriptions & prices!!!

My NJ rust belt car picture taken in '81 - spent its first 19 years outside driven daily and rarely washed! Fenders and rear valance heavily rusted (& dented), floors, trunk and rest of the car solid and rust free, not counting the surface rust.:D

The sales pitch and other additional comments that are in some of these ads can be entertaining. Scroll through this one.......

I like that description, even learned a new term from it... Googie Architecture. I want to go back to the days when everything was Googie.

Poncho_Villa 04-28-2012 01:50 PM

Here is a sweet one. Unusual vendor tho.........

I love these ebay slicksters. Worked when removed-usual rust. You ask them to measure something and they can't or won't or don't know how or the last guy said (standard) how many you want? I am learning. If they don't give the answer to the question-Don't buy
