Was "involved" in a couple of accidents today!!

Are people really that stupid when driving??? Guess so!!!

Took the Tempest to the credit union this morning. Was sitting in the left left turn lane waiting to get on I-10 here in Phx. Brand new Yellow Camaro pulls up in the right left turn lane. Guns the gas a couple of times while looking over at me. Light turns green, I whip my quick left turn down the freeway on ramp. Totally treed him!!! He tromps on it, blows off the tires & does a 180 degree spin over into my lane behind me,,,, goes up over the curb,,, slides down the embankment & into a chain link fence!!! I was allready half way down the ramp so I kept going to the next exit & came back to the scene. Cops showd up & I gave my account. Driver of Camaro got a citation for reckless driving. Me, nothing but a loss of an hour.

This evening I was sitting in a exit from a grocery store (driving the wifes car). Traffic was a mess. A lady came from my right & stops in the left turn lane to turn into the store that I was leaving. Something told me to MOVE!!! I backed up just as the lady turnd ieft into the parking lot. She got T boned in the right side by 2 cars & ended up right where I WAS sitting. She left in a ambulance!!! Not critical but pretty banged up. Lost another hour!!!

What a crazy day!!!!!

First accident ....your fault ....you and your fancy, fast looking car. You should be ashamed :)

Hey - a "win" is a "win", right? Even if it's ugly.

:D

68lemansman 03-16-2012 08:42 AM

Maybe he was blinded by the shiny paint job you got and lost control. Win is a win and an idiot is an idiot which he probably was!

Txbobcat 03-16-2012 08:46 AM

Just cause you have a fast car doesnt mean you know how to drive it.

Sirrotica 03-16-2012 09:11 AM

Just returned from AZ Monday from visiting my mother in Prescott and can vouch for the high percentage of bad drivers in AZ, parking lots were the worst places during my 2 weeks driving AZ.

GT182 03-16-2012 09:43 AM

Keith, they were both proof You Can't Cix Stupid. You were the only smart one in both situations.

Brad, you don't want to come to Philly or Delaware. ;)

I had a close one this morning on my way to get coffee. I'm in the center of 3 lanes. A foreign national is in a little foreign car in the left lane. She's next to me and decides she want my spot so she pulls it over... no signal lights. I hit the brakes and she just missed the front of the Jeep. Then I see her hand come up with that single digit of love directed for me. I was really impressed.

Sirrotica 03-16-2012 09:49 AM

Been to Philly, never been to Delaware, your right common sense and common courtesy is almost non existent on the roads and in life today. Pretty soon it will be called uncommon sense as rare as it seems to be.

vin63 03-16-2012 10:51 AM

Yikes! I was a bit afraid reading the title of the thread...glad to hear nothing happened to you. Phew!

hurryinhoosier62 03-16-2012 01:19 PM

Hey, stupid drivers are NOT just in AZ. There are quite a few of them here in CT!! Nearly got side swiped by an IDIOT that was trying to beat the traffic around a stopped police car. You could see the police car for three blocks, but the IDIOT stayed in that lane until the last second. He came a hair's breath from plowing into me. From the look on his face, he had NO idea I was even there!! Question: how do you miss a bright red,
FULL SIZE Chevy truck????

mechanickeith 03-18-2012 12:28 PM

Had a letter in the mail when I got home last night. Was from the lawyer of the camaro's owner. Said I was the cause of his accident & I was going to have to pay to fix his car!!! What a joke!!! Going to tell him to go pound sand!!!

Tripower455 03-18-2012 01:31 PM

Most people are too stupid to operate a motor vehicle. Period.

I narrowly avoided 3, count em, 3 accidents last night on my way home from work, all of them due to sheer stupidity, inattentiveness or negligence, or a combination thereof.

Un friggin believable.

This is the funniest thing i've read in a long time. But Keith,i think you're full of crap.Just how did you "drive back to the scene" if you were on the flooring of your car trying to breath?

Spend a few hours on the roads of FL and you will be longing to go back to AZ!

PonchoV8 03-18-2012 02:18 PM

I drove a Canada Dry route from St Pete to Tarpon Springs/Holiday.

Not sure when you did that, but I've been living in FL for nearly 25 years, and it has gotten exponentially worse in the last 2 years than it ever was before. I'm not sure if it's the cell phone/texting thing, or people are just getting dumber, but I've never had as many close calls as I've had in the last year or 2. FWIW, I drive Naples to Orlando and back every 3-4 days.

It's "Snowbird season".

It was the 1980s. It's always been notorious. Especially on the St Pete end. "Is somebody driving that car? I don't see anything but a white furry headrest."

Definitely the right course of action to tell him to pound sand. Not sure who his lawyer is but sounds like they are fishing for money because his insurance company certainly won't pay the bill when there is a reckless driving citation involved.

In this case, they are going after your insurance so your insurance company should defend you if it needs to.

Both times it was Arizonians, one parked so close my wife couldn't open the passengers door. The butthead was standing next to his truck and I made a comment thanks for parking so close we can't get in the car, his reply "the car wasn't there when I parked there", how the hell did she get out then moron?

Next time 3 way stop in a parking lot, I stop let the car go already sitting there, he starts to pull through, spikes the brakes for no apparent reason and then pulls through the intersection and flips me off ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ? :noidea:

LOL.. Yeah, it's still like that, except that there are more of them, and now we also have "the great equalizer", the cell phone, which makes anyone within arms reach of one drive like they're 90 years old.

Plus, I think people are getting dumber.

I got quite the laugh out of it Bill. I almost didnt go back but thought someone may have my lisc. number & the cops would hit me up for leaving the scene of an accident. I was still wiping my eyes when I got back there.

Called my legal rep, he said he would take care of it. Same thing, going to tell them to go pound sand!!

A.W.Dille 03-18-2012 10:57 PM

Well maybe you should ask the jerks attorney if you told the idiot in the Camaro to do what he did. Some of the worst places I've ever drove was Detroit, Atlanta, Columbus, Ohio, and Charlotte. Cleveland was no picnic either. To many idiots on the road these days, had a jerk pull out in front of me Thursday and for about a minute parked his truck across the road. Happens way to much everywhere these days. I think the prize in the Cracker Jack box these days is a license for people to get on the road and be stupid.

cuz68 03-19-2012 01:34 AM

Here in elizabethton it is the same way, I only drive a mile or two when i do drive,Most of the time my wife drives, For one thinge the roads are to small for all the cars on them now days, And most of the drivers are 2 old or 2 young Dumb as girles with a phone in there hand. Too many cars on the roads now days.

Keith Vrabec 03-19-2012 02:03 AM

your fault?

Seems everything needs to be assigned responsibility to someone else's insurance.

What a country.

Pop the hood on the Tempest and say "Racecar? Really?"

Point out the odometer as well while you're at it.

The interstate in Detroit is a racetrack, but the city wasn't bad when I was there. Tampa had decent drivers but the traffic is horrible.
