70 OO JUDGE
 

Out of the 618 OO Judges made does anyone have a registry of how many are still out there.

From a short an unscientific troll through ebay and local shows I estimate that 7648 of the original 618 OO Judges still exist.

Funny, but so close to the truth with all the cloning around.
No regrets, I sold the two OO Judges I owned.

OO is the only one missing from my collection of judges that I'm always looking for. I would love for it to be a IV 4 speed.
Lucerne Blue '71 4 speed would be great two.

These two, when they are found, will probably have to be NOM's. I have a bunch of the engine parts for both......just not the cars.

Am quite a ways removed from the baby diaper years, but that's what I always see when I see OO. Never been fond of it. Both of my OO Judges were III's, if one had been a IV, would have kept it, till I could found an original atoll blue pink/orange/blue IV to trade for or buy.

Good taste is common sense.

I actually have the endura bumper, brake and clutch pedal assembly and dash from an OO over sandalwood convertible in my garage. Found locally, a total rustout which was parted. That one won't be back...

Not sure if you mean me here. There's no new car, I just have some usable remains which I bought from the man who parted it. I did see the carcass though, wasn't much left. If he ever turns up with a 70 OO rag I won't be buying it, that's for certain.

No, I was referring to 71 lemans sport 455 who just stole one out of Florida. ;)

Thanks Boss.Car is clean and solid and needs less of a restoration then most cars that I have bought.The original WS motor was rebuild in 87 and never fired and have all the paper work on what was done to it, but Im still gonna take it apart and go over everything after sitting for 25 years.The car has been in storage for 29 years between florida and new york so it hasn't seen the road that much.I have a few other projects in front of this one so for now Im gonna collect what I need and then dig into it.

My Brother's authentic OO, authentic Sandlewood (stunning interior) is still avail. It'successfully painted & Striped. I restored the wiring harnesses, and did the post-paint assy.

It needs what you already have. He can't afford to put air in the tires. HIS

I know of one down in Libertyville, Illinois. Jon Markese has one that he just finished. I bought my Judge from Jon also but mine is not OO.

In keeping with the theme of this topic- it was said that 1970 Judge sales were weak because Pontiac had been using "A bland Polar White Judge in early advertising, and it wasn't until they started offering the Orbit Orange paint that sales took off"

If this is true, why then isn't OO the most common color?

Now, I own this OO Judge. I have a code correct block at the machine shop now.

Last fall a local mustang club officer saw me preparing it for storage. He invited me to their final outing, and saved me a spot among the stangs. I received more attention than anybody, and gathered quite a crowd. Car people are great.

Orbit Orange just may be the most popular color for a Judge, but it's probably neck and neck with white and red and maybe another color too.

In the attachment are the colors as tabulated by Fred Simmonds in 1989. From what I can gather (I haven't done the math in years), they don't total to final GTO production or they don't take into account special-order colors, so I dunno.

I think from this doc, we can assume 1/6 of Judges were OO.

Well I know one that won't be on the list of survivors. I parted out a 70 OO RAIV 4 speed car back in the stone age (B.I Before Internet). Had a black interior. Long story on that car and some may have heard me tell it so I won't bore you. I had seen the car in the early 80's and my brother-in-law new the kid whose dad bought it for him on his 16th birthday! I bought it to get the RAIV head for my race car! LOL!

Sure are a lot of Grenada Gold GTOs in 1970....

Well, I think it is safe to assume all of the OO cars listed were Judges.

At least from the start of OO it was a Judge color only.
Don't know if/when they might have made it available to the GTO.
(like Carousel Red originally in 69)

There was an OO 70 GTO convert for sale a few years ago on CL in this area, I spoke with the seller & had him read the data plate to me confirming the color code.

While most OO GTOs were likely Judges I don't think we can say they all were.

Don't bet your life on it - this IS Pontiac, remember?

So if the list is correct 7 non-Judge GTOs were OO. I believe there was an OO GTO vert in Collectable Automobiles mag in their GTO feature article that was original, circa 1988.

Funny, as Mopar people like to think their cars are more special, often saying, "Ma Mopar would build ANYTHING!"

Anyway, not betting my life on it, but since special-order colors are not taken into account, I don't see why regular GTOs in OO would be included.

Per Jason's post on the OO non-Judge, that photo is from 1984 or before and was touted as a Judge. It didn't have the stripes and, if I recall, it had a GTO decal but it had the black scoop boots. No saying what it is....

I know of 4 Mint Turquoise Judges, so I'm thinking those numbers aren't 100% correct. And all 4 of those are hardtops.

I think too the WT7 Judges would be part of the Polar White #s and not added in as a separate color. Shows they are all hardtops too, which is hard to believe.

I probably shouldn't have put that info in this post since its incorrect and just adds confusion, but like I said its posted on the Judge Registry along with the grain of salt disclaimer...Appears it may be the whole shaker :)

Good memory Diego! I found the magazine. Has silver grilles too, and a wing. (the vert on the bottom)

My burgundy 70 is originally an OO 4 speed car.
