Here's the condition it came home in after a 2 yr stay with Hoffman for paint.

Looks like it's going to need more time!

Not sure what the particulars are there Mike but at least the car is back in your hands.

It COULD use some paint, that's for sure. Some billet aluminum parts in the bag there.

Another paint jail story. Why Lord why? There are so many jobs worse than painting a car. It never makes sense to me.

I feel your pain man. Ultimately, this is why I do everything myself.

Well Mike, I guess I'll ask, what's the back story?

Back Story is I spent a month helping him getting cars prepped for the 09 convention and he asked to paint this car as pmt for that.

His screen name here is 64catdroptop / Clearcreek Restorations was the business. After an extended period of time of no response to correspondence and changing his phone number this is what we hauled home.

Sorry to hear it Mike, but at least you have the car! Good luck with it going forward.

Man that sure looks familiar! At least yours still rolls...pic is my first 65 still waiting for me to give it some attention again. Its become a storage rack. Haven't really touched it since I dragged Red home...except to steal a few parts. We'll get both our GPs done again, someday!

Honestly I don't know that I will finish it anytime soon, I'm still pretty raw over this whole deal. I KNOW I'm missing a drivers seat that was left there, no clue on if the rest of it's complete or not since it's all loose and laying inside of the car in a massive pile.

Mike, didn't you already have the seats recovered and ready to go?

It's a shame that we all have stories like this. (I do..) I always hope the big wheel of Karma comes around and does justice in the world. It helps me get over my frustrations to think that anyway...

And you know, as much as people bash Maaco, I don't think I've ever heard of a car being at one of their shops for extended periods. Heck, they usually barely let it dry!

That suck for sure. I think once you start working on it again your enthusiasm will return.

Doug / Bruce Yeah I have a DONE set of seats BUT I had a seat out of my OTHER 65 Prix in this one since it had bad upholstery on it and it made it easier to drive and didn't matter if it got chemicals on it.

Wow...Sorry to hear the news. I remember 64catdroptop painted a 62 and ran a thread here on the work and paint. The car looked great after it was done. Yeah...Haven't seen any posts from him in a while now, come to think of it. Bummer.

Things must have gotten bad somehow personally for 64catdroptop. I always thought he was an upright positive guy. Sorry to hear about this. If it makes you feel better, my 64 Bonneville has been away for paint for over 3 years at a friends. Originally a 6 month project "tops." Economy went bad, I know he's doing all he can to stay afloat and provide for his family.

I met Ron at the 2009 CoVention and we had a long conversation. He seemed to be a stand up guy. However, he seemed to have a stressful full time job, along with his restoration business. Plus he was dealing with health issues IIRC. I hope everything turns out ok for you on this deal Mike.
