Possible Interest in Trade: 69 L46 Corvette to Pontiac
 

A few years ago I traded my GTO of 30 years for this Corvette, I could be tempted to come back for a Pontiac.

I probably have 24K in this Corvette but of course I would never in my wildest dreams expect to get that out of it in trade or otherwise; just saying the money is there. The market for cars right now is a disaster so I don't even want to guess what a real value is.

Cars I would be be most interested in 66-67 Sprint A body, 65-69 2DR Big Car, maybe and F, last thing of interest is another GTO.

I'm not 100% sure but if someone starts talking it might push me over the edge.

I know most here aren't interested in Corvettes but here might be your angle; Corvettes might be a little easier to sell out right than non GTO's.

FYI I have no problem talking trade in the thread, PM's are fine too.

If you have a car of lesser value; come up with other stuff to trade or cash, anything can be considered. For example the family might have fun this summer in a small boat at the lake or something like that.

Bruce Meyer posted a 67 race car today that really tripped my trigger; I hadn't thought of something like that when I made my post, but after seeing Bruce's car I got really excited in that direction.

I have the car listed on the Corvette Forum with no serious hits; and I have two PM exhcanges going here. No rush other than I am excited to try something new.

WOW the tables have turned today.

Gone are my two discussions here on PY concerning Pontiacs; and in come three various serious Corvette trade considerations.

I would prefer a Pontaic trade; if anyone is sitting back thinking about speak up please before I jump on one of these Vette trades.

Wasn't the L46 a hydralic cammed 350 / 350 horse vs the 300 horse 350 & 370 horse Lt1

Yes, I think maybe cam, intake, carb were the main differences between the two.

They discontinued that engine in 71 I think, leaving a gap between the base and the solid lifter Lt1, then they brought back a similar version in 73 or 74 the L82.
Ex girlfriend had a Vette and I learned a little about 'em.

I prefer the lighter small block over the front wheels for better handling :D

OH NO, the BIG Block is the way to go.

Depends if you like playing in the turns; I drove a '73 454 and it was nose heavy, the 80 my ex had was a much better handler.

I have had both and can't tell one bit of difference in handling; but I can tell that the BIG Block trashes any small block any day in HP.

Steve checkout streetsideclassics on line. They are in Fort Worth and Atlanta . You consign the car to them and pay a little over $100. They keep it in their marvelous showroom and show it there and run ads and list on ebay for you. You and they set the price of what you want for the car and then they add on their part above your price. A buddy of mine in the Gtoaa club just sold his 65 GTO in 2 weeks and he was very happy with their service. They dont take projects which I know yours is not I put that in here for others.They pay all ebay fees take all the pics everything. They dont allow test drives until a contract is signed and then just a few blocks no high speed burnouts etc.
They are a class act I would highly recommend them and tell them a GTO guy sent you.

As for value? I have no clue. Its a project still, but even complete I'm not sure that rarity makes it super valuable? Just valuable to me. The cool factor it will definitely have. 3 speed Hurst shifter on the floor in the console. Total manual trans car production was 205.....but if you look in the tech forum for these cars ALL the ones you see were the optional 4 speeds. All I have is heresay that a few people have seen the base 3 speed in a convertible....ever.

And while some may not think the 3 spd desireable I find it cool....because all through the 60's pontiac didnt have a 3 spd strong enough for their V8s so they contracted with Ford....and its actually a Ford toploader 3 spd. Arguably the strongest manual trans ever built.

But very few cars in the big car lineup had one in the console on the floor...mostly the Grand Prixs. Most were on the steering column. So out of the 205 convertibles with a manual trans, I can only guess that not many had the 3 spd. I at least havent seen another yet myself.

I replaced the cowl due to rust, same with fenders, hood, core support. A low mileage extra 67 400 engine has been detailed and installed with new clutch. Have the original engine though and never had it running but it turns over smoothly and has 109,000 mi. Engine compartment and frame up front have been detailed. Replacement quarter on the passenger side is almost done. Work should be starting on the drivers side by next month and I expect her to be running by then. I have a new white top uninstalled. Interior is worn but not totally destroyed. Some small trunk damage spots but floors are good. I have a new fuel tank for it...dont know if the old one is bad...just picked up the new one from a friend.

I dont' really care about rarity of anything; I'm just looking to do something different. It sounds like it will be a challenge to determine your value with the condition you have it in. The cowl replacement concerns me, a pic of what you did there would be nice. I'll send you and connection email.
