anyone shooting for new bests at norwalk?

Im hoping for my career best out there this year since I havent run the quarter mile yet with my new combo.

anyone else trying to better there best norwalk time this year?

make this a good thread not a BAD thread..

jal 07-10-2013 01:48 PM

Well, I'm not in your league as far as ET but yes, would like to set some bests this year.
For me it won't be ET but deeper through my class.
In 2007 I made it to the 1/4 finals. Last year, actually made it to the semis and lost on a break-out. 0.02 seconds....
So, I'd like to best my finishes by getting into the final...

Temps going to be a BIG factor, just like every year.

If we have the 59 Catalina ready, we will be shooting to get the big car to run a 9.9x. The trans won't be optimum, but we should have found some more power, EHTTFMFWBTI!!!

cool. get it done... you can do it. edelbrock heads to the front mutha f'er with ???

I am small time but 13.20 best hoping for 13.05 with new shocks, differant intake, & rear adj. upper a arms. Ran last yr. 20 psi in my drag radials, will try 18 this yr. fresh tune up & oil change before the big head change. Yes, changing shift points from 6,000 to 5500 and wait & see.???

Hooter 07-10-2013 03:32 PM

Ideally, I'd like to get a high 8 but will likely settle for a low 9. I need to put some more gear in it(4.11 now with 33.5 tall tire and 1.80 1st gear in glide), but am honestly tired of working on it and spending money. Guess I'll settle for what it's got and go have some fun as is. On a plus note, my last license pass I left off the brake for the first time so I'll be playing with that at Norwalk. Should see my 60' time improve dramatically from the previous foot braking best of 1.38.

Bring that thing over at Norwalk and we will get that thing in the 12's!!!

I'll bring my old valve grinding stones, just bring an extra pair of head gaskets and some brake cleaner.

Easy goal for me, if I ever drag my car up there.
The last time I raced at Norwalk was in a 17 second Grand Am rental car. ;)

In a rental? Awesome!

I did see a guy in a 2004-06 GTO a$$ end the center barrier a couple years ago. Did not look good for him. Announcer was saying something about it having dealer plates on it! LOL They put the bumper in the trunk. I'm gonna bring the 64 GP next year after the trans swap and gear change! Fingers crossed. Spectator for this one

David Holmberg 07-10-2013 04:51 PM

Yes, flew into Indy to see my Father, made sure the rental car was a Pontiac.

Rolled around the water, the starter gave me the "Light 'em up" signal and I just held my hands up like why? :D

400 plus 07-10-2013 04:53 PM

With my new combo and racing at Norwalk for the first time??? HELL YES :)

Probird 07-10-2013 05:15 PM

I'm hoping for better et's for sure. My little E-heads only flow 327 cfm and I'm sure they aren't big enough for the 525ci engine they are on. Last year I was turning 7700 through the traps. I'm betting it was probably at choke well before that. This year I'll have less gear and less convertor and still running the same 1/8th mile times so hopefully it will pull harder on the big end this year with a little better et's. I think my best at Norwalk was 9.42. Hoping for mid 30's this year.

Hell yeah.......don't care what the temps are...;)
Different car same motor.....1/2 ton less weight...wahoo..
First pass(easy) in 1/8th was a 6.10....:D No 1/4 passes yet.

Now I just got to get there...:old::censored:

goatless 07-10-2013 06:21 PM

Always shooting for a new best! Isn't everyone?

Earlier this summer I was actually thinking that I might get my '70 done by Norwalk- well that's pretty clearly not gonna happen!:o If I can get the stumble on my '69 taken care of, it's possible that I could get a new Norwalk best for that car. Doubt it'll make a new overall best in the August heat.

Travis Q 07-10-2013 06:53 PM

If we can get all our ducks in a row, we'll be there with the tempest. Everything is still in a million pieces at the moment.

I hope you guys make it. I'd love to see you take back the fastest Pontiac title, only in the name of competition, of course! Be even better if the Boss Bird and Goateus Maximus are there to battle it out too!!

Elarson 07-10-2013 07:15 PM

Boss Bird will be there. Our simple goal is to make it to the far end without setting anything on fire. Secondary goal will be to try to top our 6.507. Oh yea......and make some rowdy nitro noise with a Pontiac!!!!

Nah, it's going to be the TT CV1 show or the Wrekmaster show at Norwalk... Lock it in :)

Always shooting for a new best when heading to the track. This years goal is an 8.9999. I ran a 9.14 a month ago at Norwalk and haven't been able to get back to since. We sold the trailer only to find out the one we wanted was sold too :( We pick up the new one next Friday. It hasn't helped that it has rained 20 out of the last 21 days around here either! Since last time out I have installed new double adjustable shocks, header extensions, raised the wheelie bars way up (they are unloading the tires), and I think I might have it jetted correctly. After this I need to get started on the 63 LeMans I picked up to replace the Grand Prix.

Buy a Mustang.

Replace the GP..........OH NO!!!!!!!! :(

RA462 07-11-2013 11:46 AM

No thanks John. I'll have been a Pontiac guy since I bought a 67 GTO at the age of 14. After 25 years I'm a bit vested.

I want a tube chassis car and a 63 LeMans is a cooler car than an 80's Grand Prix...however how many N/A Pontiac powered 80's Grand Prixs have you seen running low 9's?

We're trying to make it, engine is apart right now but hopefully I'll get the parts needed in time. It would be my first visit to Norwalk, always wanted to go but it's a long haul. Not looking forward to 100+ degree days though.
Good luck everyone, hope to meet a lot of you there.

Well, I hope you make it. It would be awesome to see the three fastest ever Pontiac powered, Pontiac bodied cars battling it out. The records would drop for sure!

BTW, I don't think I've seen it over 100 at Norwalk for the Tri-Power Nats- Whoever told you it's that hot is trying to scare you off. ;)
Don't get me wrong it does get hot, just not that hot.
