POCI Convention 2014 location?
Where is it? Wasn't it announced at this year's convention?
I only found one clue, an April newsletter for a Kansas chapter that said Wichita. |

POCI Conventions have ended up in June before. The last one was Loon Mountain New Hampshire in 1995.

GTOAA Nats?
The 2014 GTO Nationals are just outside Pittsburgh. Does anyone know those exact dates?

The dates are July 1st, to July 5th |
Needs to come back to northern Illinois........I loved last years.
|
601 miles from Rochester................my plan was to have my car done in time to take it to the POCI. I will need to have a lot of faith if I am to make this work. Only time will tell.

I would like to go to the GTOAA & stay at the host hotel , but I HATE the fact you are forced to stay 4 days to be able to stay at the host hotel. That SUCKS. I would be staying 3 days but at the prices they are posting for the rates to stay it's getting ridiculous for what your getting. A place to lay your head down for about 8 hours & thats it. Too Much. It use to be a club for all to come & have a good time with your car & have some good times with your friends, but the way it's gone for the last 5 or so years it's getting to be for the ones who have the most money & not just for the the guy & gal who love their GTO's. And it's almost $ 100.00 just to join. That in itself is about as stupid as it can be. And you still only get a monthly mag. & a few free ads. Why does it have to be that much, whos getting rich off of that money. JMO.

The fees for attending the conventions can be different every year and are based on the cost of the venue, sponsorships, permits, etc., etc. It's not cheap to host events of this size and based on contractaul obligations with event centers, minimum hotel night requirements may need to be implemented. Is it ideal...no, but it is what it is. If you want nothing more than to lay your head down for the night, go down the street to one of many overflow hotels. I plan on attending POCI for a few days and will be at GTOAA for the week. Looking forward to the summer and hope to see everyone there. I go exactly for the reasons you stated...beautiful cars, good times, and good friends. -Doug |
We're bringing my son's recently finished Tempest. Can't wait! I think he's hoping to get Jim Wangers & Arnie Beswick to sign it. Glad to hear that Jim will be there, but I haven't heard if Arnie is coming.
|
On the way in the morning. I hope to see some of you there.

|
Doug, we should be in late afternoon. I'll give you a call. Tim

Jim Wangers, Robert Johnson and myself have arrived.

Couldn't make it this year. Any word on where the POCI Convention will be in 2015?
|
I have really enjoyed presenting the awards at the Saturday nite banquet, but unfortunately we can't make it this year.
However, as in recent years, we are still giving away a RediRad to long-distance DRIVEN vehicles in three classes: '54 and earlier, 55'-81 and '82 and up. All I can say is DRIVE 'EM, folks! |
Since it's all indoors, do you need a POCI membership and convention pass to attend the actual show?
|
Heard rumblings of Louisville.......
|
Great event this year! Met up with many old friends and put faces to some PY handles as well.
|
does the swap meet go through end of day Saturday?
Thanks Greg |
|
Thanks you saved me a trip it is not shown on the events list for Saturday.

I hope to see more of the red 2dr A-body sedan wagon. Be sure Don Keefe sees this - I think it would make an excellent Smoke Signals cover car.

Thanks for the pics!

I would like to thank everyone involved putting together and running the convention this year for such a great job! Everyone was so nice and helpful and I am so appreciative of this. My first convention in a long time and was worth the trip. Les was especially helpful and accommodating but, everyone did a great job.
How nice it was to meet so many people and to chat with them. The seminars and drags were very good and worth attending as well and glad I did. Thank you for a job well done. About 2,500 more miles clocked on my beater '66 GTO. After the convention, headed further east into the Ozark area to pick up a stored '69 GTO and now towing it back to Az with the '66. |

The POCI convention was a good one, especially with the indoor parking. Of course we had an even better time since this was the first outing on my son's 63 Tempest - a 7 year project that we started but had to have my uncle finish. He and the painter did a great job...a Modified Points-Judged Gold.:D
