At BJ Scottsdale in January....here's the link. It's lot 138. High option car. Says the engine build was featured in 2002 HPP. NOM.

And here's a picture of the engine. Lots of opportunity here for the sharks. To my discerning eye the paint looks like PlastiKote.

Overall,it comes across cosmetically respectable until you start to focus.....

Here's MY dinner.......just in the lower engine shot.

Fan shrould,coolant overflow bottle,top alternator brace,gold alt.fan & red PS reservoir cap.

Wrong air cleaner sticker, 72 only canister temp switch missing, wrong master cyl, A/c lines have new crimps.

i seen an ad for it last night but there was no link or photos.........

I remember that one from when it was restored maybe 7 - 8 years ago and it's changed hands at least a couple of times in the last few years. Was for sale for quite a while in Arkansas for $29k if I remember right in 2010-2011. Looks like it ended up in Oklahoma from the bit of the license plate I can see. Was originally an Anaconda Gold car if I remember right. Here is the link from when it was restored:

Claimed to be one of 6 or 7 built?....wonder were that info came from........

there was also a white over green :gag: '72 Formula 455 for sale back then that claimed the 455HO and A/C made it a 1 of 7 car. I assume one of them just believed that "factoid" and repeated it.

Fender clips or lack there of, hood springs, vacuum lines and the fan shroud is wrong which also is a red flag of a possible frontal???

Looks like HOC paint on it, which I do like better than the Gold.
Needs lots of bolt on items either replaced or fixed to look a bit better
I read those articles when they were printed. Well done articles and I guess a good build for a non numbers matching car.
These days a pretty paint job goes along ways, like the 70 recently

The Paint is from a 2002 Pontiac Firebird.. "Sunset Orange Metallic" The original Formy side decals would look good on this car, with this color, possibly.
Somehow the heads "lost" 10 cc in the engine build, but wasn't mentioned in any of the 3 part series that I read. The Block was NOT decked ( a good thing).
I would prefer a little less CR and smaller cam, but this motor isnt overkill and retains its stock pushrod length, yet uses stamped steel roller tip rockers.. Good deal..
EDIT: If I was to buy this, it couldnt even get on my trailer with that Alternator bracket and air cleaner sticker though

Can anyone figure out where the fuel line is located?

It would appear to be that hose - but comes from the wrong side of the engine. {scratches head}

Chevy Q jet with a barbed fitting in front, is my guess. Paint will sell this car ....

This car showed up at the San Antonio Autorama this weekend.

The car does show well, and the new owners are very nice folks.

They had just gotten the 14" honeycombs in and freshened up the day before the trip. They indicated the new reproduction stainless capped lug nuts did not seat on the polycast honeycomb, but instead the stainless cap tended to cut into it, so they put the early style nuts on. Has anyone else had this issue?

Greg, on the capped stainless lugnuts, did you ask the new owners which version they received? Have not seen that myself, but have both originals & the first tall cap repro's (Ted Williams).

Looking at the pics, can see the oversize puke jug is still there. Other than the Burick sticker coming off the aircleaner, any other refreshments under the hood.

Wow, now it's a show car with puffery? I saw it at BJ and missed the phs and a look see at engine bay.

But, really a 735 mile car with a reprint to a non stock color covering the factory color to make that mileage statement on window sticker...

Not sure the grille had much to do with wheels, but whatever...

There's no way that is 735 actual miles. Way to many things wrong for that.

The owner clarified 735 is what is showing on the odometer. Keep in mind, in addition to the color change, the BJ add indicates it's NOM, but it did still have the unitized ignition installed, and the 7F6 heads.

Ole Pinion head, I'm not sure where they got the stainless capped nuts but I thought Ames was the only one carrying the repro's?

I don't think too much has been changed since BJ beyond the HC's.

What is interesting regarding the Honeycomb's is: the invoice (which likely came from Jim Mattison's PHS records) calls for P05 which means the PHS must have called it also. I think there are a few other threads on this topic, but I was under the impression only the build sheet identified if honeys were ordered? Does anyone know for sure?

I love the red wires on the fire wall...They should keep the hood closed IMHO

BARF!! and on a stand right next to the car!! These owners have either been seriously "Dupped", OR they need an education, IF willing to get it.
I find it odd the Grilles are BLACK.. The big ol BUICK sticker really just blows the whole thing.. I look at this car like I do mine, a nice driver. Keep printing the Buick style stickers and they may just change history!!
On the Lug nuts, I use the Gorilla BULDGE bottom nuts, looks near original and have a nice mate surface.To use the stainless covered nuts , as NJ Steve has mentioned , you need the right 4 way wrench and do em by hand.
I find it amazing that this cars association with HPP , and the available knowledge, the engine turned out like it it did.( what can be seen)
I do like the 2002 Color, and have considered painting my Formula that color...not sure it would go with Burgundy Deluxe interior though

I believe that's true for '72 T/A's but the Formulas came standard with the steel wheels so the PHS and build sheets will show the extra cost wheel option for Honeycombs or Rally II's.

No expert here but I guess this window sticker was made up and modified by someone. The reason I say this is because the choice of transmission and wheel was a free option in 72 and this sticker shows options for transmission and wheels with the price, my window sticker does not show those options in the option list.

auto/4 speed transmissions and honeycomb/rally wheels were added cost options on Formulas so they are supposed to show on Formula PHS docs.

I have AMES repop lugs with caps and they are fine...I even saved 1 original as a lucky charm...this FORMULA that's posted, did the standard alternators get a rear bracket..or just 80 amps? thanks!

Yes, but the standard 10SI alt used a different rear alt bracket with PS than did the 27SI (80 amp) set-up.

I was trying to determine if this car has the rear bracket or not?...I mean, who doesn't have a rear alt. bracket??!... I still will never know the truth about my car...the rear alt . bracket bolt hole appears never used..unless the funky corrosion the alt. housings get covered up the signs?..wishful thinking it was inadvertently left off at the factory...it is the original alt...most likely not put back when SR engine was installed...

The MSRP is up there! $2,500 in options alone...Not many expensive options missing? That car is loaded for speed and comfort.

Not good for honey wheels. As the red center lugs are anything but wrong.
