Where are all of the Edelbrock Pro Port Builds?

It's been well over three years since I returned the first castings of Edelbrock Pro Port heads I ordered the prior year.

We all know about Marcella's build, the other one was a nice EMC build with heads done by Chad Speir.

Where are the rest of the builds? The Pontiac market was crying for a 400 CFM bolt on cylinder head, traditional Pontiac, high quality casting, so where are they???

Don't be surprised if Edelbrock decides to run a CNC Victor series to move inventory, just don't think they are doing us a favor.

Yeah I've been told that if you build an all out race engine max effort then back up the numbers buyers will come? Marcella did that yet none have sold.Where are the people who always say that? Hmmm , now you know why he is going sb2. Maybe he should have offered discounts to muppets.

What about hp/cid? 2.172 .....POS needs to be 2.3 for an inline head with 1 carb.
But I think there is another 40-50 hp in it.

Im going SB2 because I can race at 250lbs lighter in my class and make similar power with that motor.

What happened to Jim Robertson's efforts? Or am I remembering wrong about the port he displayed at Norwalk a couple of years ago?

KO 01-26-2014 08:52 AM

an as cast 400CFM head would be a good idea

They would sell like crazy..

Would impact the head porters though, so I bet it wont happen...

Would nice if it did...

Sure is hard to make a living when anyone can make 700+hp street strip engines out of the box as cast isn't it?

So you are running Kre's program.....if you can't make the power, make it lighter.

They will never admit it but the biggest market is street engines,so yes anything that can eliminate cost ie head porting..it's not in their best interest to want an out of the box performer.

GREATGTO 01-26-2014 09:57 AM

What I want to know is who, if any at all were the Pontiac morons that told edelbrock how to design this porters casting? You knew it was a bust when sold as an all out race head then they stuck pontiac style exhaust on it.

I feel sorry for all the vendors like, Butler/Kauffman/Sd etc.. That most likely bought them by quantity hoping for sales..

I hope they can sell them all...

Well KRE has their own stuff,as for the others who knows what they got.i will say this,if they did not buy large amounts now might be the time to hit edelbrock up for a fire sale. Especially if edelbrock has no plans to offer a bolt on set of pro ports.

Just like there fuel injection manifolds? That might just happen.....

Time will tell...

charlie66 01-26-2014 10:26 AM

If Edelbrock has to get out of a no sale bind, they could always take them and do there own cnc program on them . That would sell them as long as they stayed affordable..

Well SB up to 500 cid runs at 2775 and Pontiac runs at 3025. My SB, (not the one im running in 2014) but the one im doing for myself over the next year or 2 , the target is 1180+++hp . So at that point, what would you do?
