At only 477 ci that really is awesome! :) Did you ever dyno your engine? For my simulation I am using around 1270 HP and torque 980. For my simulation to some what match your run I had to pull power out until about 87 feet out and then had it shifting into second at about 101 feet out.

When I simulate Kinsler's 8.42 N/A run he has over 2 G's down low

60 Foot ET = 1.1675
330 Foot ET = 3.3967
1/8 Mile ET = 5.3293
1/8 Mile MPH = 126.6948
1000 Foot ET = 7.0071
1/4 Mile ET = 8.4242
1/4 Mile MPH = 159.7267

When I simulate your run you have just a little over 1.5 G's
If you get your car to hook like Kinsler's

60 Foot ET = 1.1642
330 Foot ET = 3.2924
1/8 Mile ET = 5.1296
1/8 Mile MPH = 133.3245
1000 Foot ET = 6.7235
1/4 Mile ET = 8.0694
1/4 Mile MPH = 168.1848

Note this is still at 3900 foot DA.

You're really close....1273HP/975TQ

Where you pulled the power out is close too. I was using a RPM based retard curve and that is prolly right around where the power started coming back in.

Back when I ran that time, I was guesstimating it might go a low teen or a high 8.0X once I got the front half figured out.

Thanks! Its been a long 3.5 years to get here. I wasnt planning on painting the car last year, that probably put me behind for norwalk and drag week. But I couldnt stand the blue anymore so it had to go.

As long as I dont make some stupid tuning mistake I think the car will do well.

I'd like to see someone else boost a set of cv-1's but I'll bet Big chief ends up with billets if he has issues with the e-heads. We'll see...

I would take that bet for a pound of ice cream at Norwalk;

1 Bar = 14.5 psi

.6 x 14.5 = 8.7 psi of boost.

(Add 20 psi to that number and you would be close with the CV-1 heads).

Maybe everyone else cannot do the conversion so easily Aaron, some think a Bar is 14.7 psi. Just passing on info. Why would you need a F-2 supercharger if you were only running 8 psi of boost. The board is not all about you, Aaron.

BS! Now with my eheads I've pinned the gauge at 30lbs. I've over -rev'd the motor when it spun and it has pinned the gauge with the cv1's but that's it.

Think I posted that info in Post #15 of this thread (if you care to read it). He runs a Procharger F-2 Supercharger. He played with a F1-R for a little bit but it would not do the job.

Thanks. Yes you did, and I read it and by this morning I had forgot already. :eek: Since max boost on the F-2 is 38 PSI (Based on the 8/12 specifications I have), Bryan will need to get a boost gauge that goes to 40 PSI. :)

The Info from Procharger can be read a couple of ways, Stan.
During the Vortech/Procharger early days, in the NMCA Super Street class, there were racers who were running 28-30 psi with the Vortech XX Trim Supercharger. The Keens on the other hand were only running 22 psi on the Boost gage because their engine was more Volumetrically Efficient and yet both racers were running the same supercharger and drive tooth count. The Keen engine was "breathing better". Same deal in my mind with the CV-1 head vs the E-Head. Procharger might say it could show 38 psi on a gage but Brian's engine would show closer to 30 psi. Did not think Brian had a flow capacity issue with the CV-1 stuff, always thought there might have been an air/fuel distribution issue when he had problems. Brian has a buddy named Mike who ran a boosted BB Chevy Nova at the same time and even swapping out Mike's carb on Brian's engine did not resolve the issue. They were both Kevin's carbs (identical CSU carbs). Mike did not have issues and was actually faster. (Mike ran a smaller Vortech Supercharger).

No Aaron, Brian was not running a Inter-cooler ("Air to Air" or "Water to Air") on his car. Luhn Performance ran a "Water to Air" inter-cooler for their engine testing.

Another comment Stan.

Vortech has an "IN HOUSE" Supercharger Mapping Dyno Cell. They can test all of their units for max RPM, Efficiency, Boost Pressures (using a flow measurement device), and obviously Mass Flow in Lbs/min.

Procharger did not have that capability any time during the "Super Street Wars" and relied on Dyno HP & Track numbers to calculate supercharger capability of their units.
Have photos somewhere of superchargers that failed during track testing (who knows which reason why it failed: overspeed, design issues, using chain drive systems, poor support for the supercharger, etc).

They may have a supercharger test cell today. I have not talked to them in several years.

Yep, a technician typically has to build it and use it. The way big companies work.

I did a lot of "thinking" during the Super Street Wars in the 1998-2005 time period. Keens, Scranton Brothers, Delatorre, Greathouse, etc. (all ran SB Ford Supercharged Engines that were in 3000# weight Mustangs that were solidly in the 7.50-8.0 ET range. We are still not there with a belt driven "door slammer" type 3000 lb supercharged vehicle (GTOGEORGE, BRIAN, anyone).

Tom is correct I did not run an intercooler. Like I said before, the boost would change based on the air conditions, pulley combinations, and shift points. So the numbers are the numbers.

The boost numbers are making more sense to me now, thanks for the update. How did you manage the detonation with those high intake temps. I would have though it would be dang difficult to manage without denotation issues. Are you running H2O or alcohol injection?

I bet those were some head melting inlet temps! make a lot more power with cooler air and less boost id think. safer too. but i'm no engineer... ; )

Never ran water or meth injection. We just tuned the motor according to the plugs and AFR's. There are plenty of BBC guys running blow-thru F2's with more boost on C-16 fuel than me and aren't having problems with detonation.
