I was just surfing some places I don't usually go on PY....

So I took a fly through the clubhouse. Wow. Hard to believe it's still the same website over there.

David Jones 01-30-2014 09:29 PM

I was invited to reply to a topic "in" there a year or two ago. I did and really didn't see a reason to go back. I do appreciate that some like to indulge though.

red1975pacer 01-30-2014 10:35 PM

Do you have to be invited into the clubhouse?

PonchoV8 01-30-2014 10:39 PM

And just think, the place is actually better this past month than it has been in over 3 yrs.

David Jones 01-30-2014 10:41 PM

No. There was a topic going on that somebody realized I might have an interest in so they suggested I check it out.

Old Blue 66 01-30-2014 10:47 PM

Well all I can say is that the posts in there leave a lot to be desired to those who enjoy constructive conversation.

Got smacked around for my 2 cents. Never went back.

Yes Sir ! I figured out how to get into that forum, looked around and laughed. I assumed that there was a fee involved ,being a "club house" so I had never ventured there. That place is a big joke with a bunch of , if you will pardon me, low IQ racist bickering people that have huge egos. I understand what Mr. Dillon's signature photo was all about now. That fellow doesn't seem to contribute very much here along with some others there . It seems to me that this club house drags this whole forum down. I believe I will just stick with my '76 Trans Am, the tech forums here and steer clear of that cesspool.

Old Blue 66 01-31-2014 02:07 AM

Evidently there is a person who has posted in this thread trying to start something "Over there". Have fun bud. Im not playing.

Then why start this thread to begin with?:rolleyes:

Ben M. 01-31-2014 09:09 AM

When I find out someone is an active participator in the clubhouse almost to the exclusion of other sections, I find that I respect them less. Just like I'm sure they don't respect me at all for not participating in their brand of hate.

Bruce Meyer 01-31-2014 10:51 AM

Man. You guys need to put your Big Boy pants on. If you don't like the clubhouse, don't go there. You don't need to snivel about it.

ho428 01-31-2014 11:20 AM

The CH serves a few purposes, the one side benefit is you can visit without posting and get to see someone's true nature, then you can decide if they're worth engaging with on the regular forum.

goats2quick 01-31-2014 11:25 AM

That would be really funny if wasn't true. Nah.... it's still funny!

bird72 01-31-2014 11:49 AM

Have had my fill of "Keyboard Gangsters" on the net in general. Talking tough behind a screen is easy for any pencilneck. If someone can't express an idea or belief while staying in the rules of the "regular" areas here, then I don't need to read it. It means they need to be able to attack people, not thoughts, and need a large grandstand while doing it. Great for those that like that stuff, no problem. Hate is a nowhere use of energy.

Stuart 01-31-2014 12:26 PM

I think the PY staff would just as soon not have the clubhouse on this board, but unfortunately it was necessary to keep that sort of stuff out of public view (after all, this board is used to promote their business, the last thing they need is a bunch of offensive material.) The lobby used to be full of it, mostly posted by a handful of people; interestingly, most of them have all but disappeared from the visible sections of the board, so it's pretty obvious they aren't here to contribute to the Pontiac hobby.

I participate on a few other web boards, and it seems they all have the same problem - either they have to moderate the board constantly 24/7, or else create a separate hidden section to keep those posts out of sight.

Bob Rutledge 01-31-2014 12:55 PM

What a bunch of pansies. Like Bruce said, nobody is twisting your arm to go look. If you went and didn't like it, clear your browser history and cookies along with passwords and you won't have to be "bothered" by the CH ever again.

Steve Hoog 01-31-2014 01:07 PM

Stuart, you hit the nail on the head!

I believe the OP was simply making a statement.

Thank you for your sage advice.

INJUNTOM 01-31-2014 01:37 PM

I venture in there every now and then and even find some of the topics interesting, but I don't have much time for the internet, much less internet drama. There's a couple ridiculous trolls in there though...

ho428 01-31-2014 02:11 PM

You can tell why the CH exists pretty easily. Some name calling and thanks clicking already.

Won't be long before this thread gets locked.

And a broad general one at that. Not aimed at anyone or any thing in particular. Just surprised at the conversations that go on there.

I didn't expect that another thread in the Club House would be started with personal mudslinging. Unbelievable.

I have one very simple rule about posting comments on a board or in social media. If I were to get killed tomorrow, and any of my family went back to see what I did online, the last thing I would want them to see is posts that would ruin any thoughts of the person I really am. Plain and simple. If I participated in any of the trash that gets posted in the CH, I would die with shame.

pmdclassics 01-31-2014 03:21 PM

I only go in the Clubhouse once a week and that's to look at that one Babe thread. :)

Didn't ever pick up any magazine that you were curious about? Then you never bought it because you didn't like it?

Same thing here dude. Enough already. Was any post here directed at you? The answer is no. Why dont yo go back to the bone yard and hide behind your computer screen using your keyboard to say things you would NEVER say face to face to anyone. Theres a nice audience over there.

I'm done with this thread.

Good, no more whining. If I don't like a mag, I put it down and forget about it.

You started the thread complaining about the CH for the second time now. Follow

your own advice (Enough already)

I quoted common sense and you act like teenage girl finding out Bieber tickets are

sold out.

As for things I wouldn't say : you have no idea, you've never met me.

Not all, but I once was a silent partner in one. There's plenty of shady stuff going on.

tajunkman 01-31-2014 07:53 PM

It's so obvious by the reply vs. view ratio that plenty of PY members go into the CH and read it on a daily basis.

After making a few attempts to confront some of the worst of the CH crew ^^^....And being ganged up on in there for it.... with little or no support from anyone ...... it has become my conclusion that.... MOST PYers must be indifferent to, or more likely.... IN AGREEMENT WITH all the bigotry and racist rants in the CH.

So F---- Ya'll too!

Steve Hoog 01-31-2014 07:58 PM

Where is the love?

This is 100% a CH thread but please don't put it in there, we are trying to clean the place up.

Quit yer whining.

You threatened to come to my home (chuckle, when are you coming ?) you're no angel and you're

no victim.

If you don't like the rules of the club, don't join.

THE CLUBHOUSE This is a private password protected forum. Members say what they feel and don't hold back. Some may find the contributions very inapropriate, insulting, hateful, rude and racist. The owners and administration of PY do not participate, endorse or agree with the postings contained within but allow it in order to confine such controversial subjects to one area to preserve the integrity of the main Pontiac forums.

PonchoV8 01-31-2014 08:28 PM

This morning there was an ant in my bath tub. I turned the water on a little to give him the idea to run out of the way. He didn't. After a couple of warning splashes the dripping water just swallowed him up in one motion and he was trapped inside a big water bubble. He was running around INSIDE the bubble all along the edges of it trying to get out but the surface tension of the dry tub holding the bubble wouldn't let him out. He went all around the edge as fast as he could, but couldn't escape. Feeling humane for a moment, I flicked the water and he went flying onto the shampoo bottle. He was stuck there because the water acted like glue against his antennae, sticking him to the bottle. I watched for a moment but he couldn't escape. So I took my finger and gently wiped him off the bottle onto the sink where he could recover. He dragged his feelers off the wet sink and stood up as tall as he could as if he was waiting for the next wave of water to hit him and engulf him again hoping his he wouldn't submerge. He finally recovered from his exhaustive near-death experience and began to move around. So I took my finger and wiped a circle around him so he would only sense my scent everywhere he tried to walk.

That's how I started my morning. Now does the Clubhouse make sense to you?

That's unfortunate, you're judging people on a a tiny snapshot of time in their lives.

I'll be an example. I contribute almost exclusively in the CH these days, but it might be once or a couple times a week. But if I got paid consulting fees for all the info I've given hobbyists during the last 40+ years, I would have built significant wealth in that endeavor, enough to retire on.

And the friends and acquaintances I've made around Pontiacs enjoy some CH topics.

PS you won't find any comments there by me that are derogatory or insulting. It's just a neighborhood bar I like. Every bar has its jerks.

I just did that myself. I went to the 61 and older Pontiac Tech for a little while.
Now my arthritis is flaring up, I'm constipated, and all I want to do is listen to Benny Goodman tunes.

Would that be considered liberal thought process?

Greg Reid 01-31-2014 10:03 PM

I used to participate over there....many years ago now. What made me quit going was finding that people whose opinions I respected in the tech forums and who seemed to like me and were very helpful at times to me, in actuality expressed an extreme dislike for me. They did not realize they disliked me personally, but it was a general dislike of a group of people of which I am a member. Some of them expressed their low opinions about this group often and with much glee.
After that, I found that it was difficult to separate my feelings for what I was reading from these good folks over there, and my interactions with them over in the rest of the forums.
I like this forum and did not want to leave it based upon my newfound revelations about these people. So, I found that it was easier to stick both fingers in my ears and go...LALALALA....so I would no longer know how they felt about me and my 'kind'.
Now, I'm blissfully happy here in my ignorance.
I have successfully exercised the option put forth earlier in this thread- I don't like what I see there...so, I don't go there any more.
In fact, I can't even remember who I was mad at any more. Problem solved. ;)

Even more comical is the whining about "not contributing to the board" by members who joined in 2006 and 2012. These idiots don't realize that the current board is the third iteration for PY. My current join date is for this iteration-I've been a member here since the late 80s, i.e. about 25 years. Plus, my car was done in 1993, and the big car forums here have never been very active. There's little to do over there.

As to my avatar (can you imagine some idiot complaining about an avatar?!) It was a joke. I think it was Brian Baker who mentioned when I was carving up Misus one night "I see Dillon has the scalpel out again!" I've used it ever since and kinda like it. I ain't changing it because some whiny lib doesn't like it.

Who woulda thought a car guy bulletin board would be invaded by the easily-offended? Bunch of poosies. :D

Incorrect, you most certainly did.

Part of an old thread dug up somewhat supports this.

Not that I'm worried; I'm pointing out the irony that you

basically came into a bar starting a brawl & got smacked down and you're

out here crying that you're the innocent victim

And you cry about racism completely ignoring the pasted warning.

Describe what part of the below do you not understand ?

"Members say what they feel and don't hold back. Some may find the contributions very inapropriate, insulting, hateful, rude and racist" <- YOO HOO ! JUNKMAN ? Can you not read this ?

The rules don't need to be changed just to suit your needs -

Even more hysterical is you complain bad the CH is, yet you've been posting in there very recently.

What's with that ?
