Interesting Turn of Events in the "Top Thanked" Ranks.......
Weird.
Since we've had the "Top Thanked" info at the bottom of the forum, "The Boss" has been at or right at the top. Only a few "thanks" separated him and a couple of other obviously very useful people as they jockeyed for Performance Years Pontiac immortality. Now SUDDENLY there is a new player in the race (fbirdinconcord) and he has pulled out a HUGE lead. Approx 150 "thanks" over the next most helpful guy. Looks like the answer to everybody's Pontiac prayer has surfaced.........amazingly quickly, I might add. |
Scratch my back David and I'll scratch yours... haha
|
Finger gets to tired power wheel mouse scrolling down that far.....so this is the second time I have looked.....:)
|
Does anyone use the thank function for any post that's actually helpful? I've only noticed it in the lobby in general conversations.

I just went back and clicked on the top members name mentioned above and it does not link to his last (or any) posts. No correlation to what hes posted, and if its not listed in recent posts or most popular in one of the other groups, how would you find all this useful/helpful info hes posted? Maybe it promotes participation, assistance and nothing wrong with that. |

Just thought that was kinda ironic... K |

Posts are being thanked during arguments to show who they agree with.
Posts are thanked for no reason other than liking the post. Thanking goes on as a form of trolling, members who don't like someone will thank their posts over and over to get under their skin. Maybe 10% of actual helpful posts get thanked, otherwise this feature is not being used for its intended purpose. |
What's even more puzzling is that he has thanked other members a (current) total of zero times.
I too have noticed an awful lot of back scratching going on in that department. |

Even more interesting.... he hasn't made a single post since last August- well before the "thanks" button came into being. Things that make you go "Hmmmmm?"

It should be noted there are no limits to getting Thanked via other users digging up old threads to click the Thanks button retro. |

Personally I would prefer to not be at the top of anyone's list! ;) |
I hope not, That guy put a WHAT THE H on all the post hors. And i only thank when helped or when some one makes a very good post, As posted above most of you dont know how to use the thanks button. Have a great day and dont worry about it.

Why can't we say Thank You For This Useless But Entertaining Post?

Most likely the person that jetted ahead has a second account on a different computer (different IP address) with a different name. Looked himself up with a search and thanked himself 200 times to take the lead. Or he has a buddy that did it. |

Not directed toward you David. ;) Just any random individual post. |

c'mon doug....we dont need any snitching..save it for the CH
boy that was harsh wasnt it?..sounded a lot more funny in my head... |
There's no thanks feature in the Clubhouse so it needs to be said in forums where there is one that should be used, so saying it there makes no sense. It'd be helpful to have the thanks feature in the CH, because there are too many posts of "X2" or "good post". Those add less than if there as a way to just add your support with a thanks. As it is people are just saying YEAH, SO THERE.

They might consider a "relevance meter" on the side of every ones name, a scale from 1 to 10 attached to ones account.
Some examples (like these below), would alert others who the historically poor performers are as PY members. A * next to the relevance number would indicate the person is a "cut and paste" kind of member more than 50% of his posts. PY Relevance Scale I own a Pontiac, buy from PY, and post in Tech areas of the forum twice a month or more: relevance factor 10 I used to own a Pontiac but currently don't, I help by posting in Tech areas twice a month or more: relevance factor 6 I don't own a Pontiac, and not interested in anything on PY that deals with Pontiacs, but I do post in non Tech areas 90% or more of the time and have a low post count: relevance factor: 1 I have never owned a Pontiac and though I stay on PY for long periods, I don't post in Tech areas or contribute much in the Pontiac hobby: relevance factor of 0 That seems to cover the spectrum....... :) |
How about we just say if we agree with somebody or disagree just like we do in real life?
Relevance points, thanks, or reputation points......what relevance do they have in a Pontiac forum? If you spend ANY time here you can quickly tell who knows their **** & who makes it up, who the whiners are and the troublemakers, and who's here to learn & help. My vote goes for dumping it. |
I'd just like to thank everyone who posted in this thread. :D

I was laughing at this entire thread, especially at the big string of useless "thanks" to every post. I actually blew a little snot on the keyboard during a chuckle through my nose. I don't know why, but this was one of the funniest things I've read in a while.
I think Dillon wins with the biggest continuous string of disingenuous "thanks".;) |
No Thanks
How about a " No Thanks " option .... :old:

It's been funny watching a couple of people vying for the Big Thanks list.
I just want to thank our bestest buddy and big toe, Sergeant Hulka. http://millerpolooza.files.wordpress...cis1.jpg?w=812 . . . . . . . . . . . . |
When someone or a group of folks help me with ideas or suggestions I specifically thank them. Seems like the right thing to do.

As one who is usually in the top thanks list, I never vied for position. My ego is fragile enough.
dwallace and John are brothers, in case anyone was wondering. I thought the Thanks was an easier tool than the X2, X3, 2 cents and all the other needless pile-ons to agree with one persons reply. Or, if you are corrected and you agree to that point. Especially, if it's several posts/pages later. |

*If I would have said "No Thanks" to your "No Thanks" idea, that would prove your point. :) |
