1965 gto Reef Turquoise like or dislike color?

Love it. Makes me want to go to Key West, FL for the winter blues.

Not my favorite, but I also never see that color. It could grow on me! I couldnt reist asking...did the Foosenator ruin that car to the left of the GTO?

It is a very nice '60's' color but it's also a very hard color to get true to factory. The true factory reef turquoise rides a knife's edge between the blue and green mix. A trip to Napa and Martin Senour is usually disappointing - it stayed into the green flash too much. A head snapping color in it's correct balance IMO

Parchment interior would make it BETTER. "Bill"!

Agreed Bill. Not sure if it's the picture quality or my computer but that strays way too much toward green

Kind of on the fence here.

Sort of reminds me of the seafoam green that was so popular in the '60s for bathroom walls.

It would have been the perfect car for the Ventures and their surf music. Just make sure it has the reverb option.

I'm partial to Teal Turquoise and Parchment. I guess Reef makes a good second choice.

Don't like, but there are one or two other original greens in 65 that are great.

Always liked it, first one I saw was owned by 60sstuff back in the 80's, awesome car awesome color!

That's the Reef I had. Cool Color, reminds me of Lime Sherbert ice cream

WOW this reef color looks different on every car !

While walking the new car lot in the day . you could assume those color cars were not the ones with 3.90 or 4.33 gears.

but the girls did like those pretty gto's :cool:

I prefer Teal Turquoise but here is a Reef Turquoise convertible I saw in the early 90's

The first 65 pic color looks wrong, the other pics color looks great

I think it just a poor pic, looks bleached out.

I luv the color. I changed my interior to parchment and like it even more.

Like it a lot.

I repainted my '66 Sport Coupe the original Reef Turquoise using two stage acrylic enamel in 2010 and my painter added a little pearl to cut the metallic in the as mixed PPG in order to better match the original hue. I also think that the dark aqua interior looks best, especially with a Legendary interior using carpets and the vinyl from the same dye lot. For the very first time all interior pieces are the same color!

Third pic from the left is its original survivor appearance in 2001 after a thorough cleaning and waxing.

Yeah, but I should keep that to myself. I just get tired of classic American cars with giant wheels and rubber band tires.:gag::2cents:

The Reef Turquoise has definitely grown on me after the most recent pictures. I think a convertible with white top looks really cool. Come to think of it, swear I saw that color combo in the local classified ads and it really stood out while still looking like an uncommon factory color.

Whoa, cool '66! My dad had a '66 Sprint back in '95, it was sure cool. I just had to say something after seeing yours! Ok, now I'll get...:focus:

It's definitely not a color for everyone, But thats why I like it.
It definitely changes hue depending on light.
The only time I thought NO WAY was back in '94 when deciding if we should stay with the factory scheme. All I can say is I'm glad we did.
It's nice when parked in a sea of RED at an event to stand out :D

1965 GTO Reef Turquoise
 

My '65 Catalina 2+2 is Reef Turquoise with Parchment interior. Of all my cars, I always get many more questions/compliments at car shows on this car, especially from women. Many people want to know the name of the color and whether it is a factory color. Women consistently say they love it.

60's Stuff, it may have been your '66 GTO that inspired me to find my Catalina. I remember seeing a Reef Turquoise '66 GTO many years ago, and it was just a striking combo to me. I hung around with Phil Bauman in the early 80's and he was probably the one who pointed it out to me at some POCI convention, or via some photos he had taken, etc. I've been fooling with these cars since 1977 and never met anybody before or since that was more knowledgeable that Phil. Very sorry we lost him.
