Hey Bob V. its got your steering shock on the front and Dicks 3x2 linkage.
We got most of it right but their is always something................ we could do better. I know I got to do the overspray on the valve covers and the oil filter once we break in the engine. |

If you plan to enter concours judging with GTOAA, you may want to consider not doing the overspray. I did none on my '64 and there were no deducts for lack of overspray. There is some amount of controversy about overspray--valve covers, blue oil filter, firewall, etc.
Maybe it's just me, but why try to duplicate what the factory didn't do "just right?" Look at the rear axle in this 8000 mile unrestored GTO. Do you think that rearend or rear underbody would be OK at a judged carshow? http://www.hotrod.com/muscle_car_rev...ried_treasure/ There's no doubt this car is very close to what a '64 GTO looked like when new, but that's not how restored cars are done today. We can argue for or against "over-restoring," but that's what wins at car shows today. Just something to think about. |

Interesting that 8k GTO looks so close to underside of 69 88k Judge just a lot more overspray but the Judge came from high desert.

I know it's not finished yet but looking at the pics leads me to ask a general question of:
As I recall, the 65's had a long painted bracket piece (wire loom?) that ran along on top of the inside lip (maybe outside lower lip) of the driver side valve cover to hold the distributor/heat sensor/etc? wiring. Did the 64's have a similar piece? |
Pretty sure mine did at one time but that was many many years ago, lol!

64 had the same concept but brkt. is on the pass side. "Bill"!

Didn't want to go the vacuum 3x2 route since the car was a 4 barrel new and any dealer 3x2 add on would have been progressive linkage. We love doing this, it's like a giant jigsaw puzzle, we are going to paint daubs on the suspension after the body is on the car. I am not thin skinned, this is a celebration on how this car was new! The goal is to replicate this, but make it a little nicer without going over the top. I know some of this stuff is impossible to get 100% correct because reproduction parts just aren't the same, between close and better than worn out LOL, NOS is great when you can find, but now we are working on it every week and not in the collecting parts phase, were doing the best we can with what we have. But paint, fit, finish, chrome, trim on the outside being white has to be show all the way. |
Is the driveshaft in correctly? I thought the narrow end went to the rear of the car.
