Beech Bend.........Nostalgia Race
So I'm in the pits and I see dozens of Fords, Mopars & Chevys but only 2 Pontiacs mine and a Chevy powered junk! What's up?
GTO George |
The Pontiac guys are waiting for Norwalk?
|
Sounds like Perfect representation at a Nostalgia Race. Fords, Chevys, Mopars, and ONE PONTIAC. In the 60s it was Arnie. Today it is you.

Arnie would drive anything at its max capability. Tom V. Remember now, Jack, George DID make $75.00 in prize money at the "NATIONALS". |
The Wilhites told Deb they were running this weekend. They change their minds? Glen Lever might be there with his dragster. There were a couple other Pontiacs last year. Year before last was an old Pontiac dragster from Texas built in 59( 59 389 with blower)
George its only Tuesday night, I doubt you'll be the only Pontiac. |

I was at Beech Bend last month for a NMCA and Dave Duell Classic NSS Race. Only me and one other Pontiac (guy from Canada and was the fastest car there) out of 54 cars. Been too other Dave Duell classics with 84 cars. Calvin Hill, his dad, Larry Quinn and BJ Back. Larry was the fastest car there. Thjose races pay between 4-5K first place and split another 3K back 8 places. Run class (heads up) pay between $200-$1500 per class on Sat.

I went out second round...........car slowed down some, DAMN!
Still want to know why pro tree guys click on both bulbs when staging...........its kinda RUDE! GTO George |
Quote:
Some just don't know common staging etiquette.. :noidea: |
Quote:
Ive run this PRO tree series twice so far............everytime I go in FIRST.........the other guy goes in and puts on BOTH bulbs, is this like a normal thing for Pro Tree racing? This normally doesnt happen in Bracket Racing. OK Pro Tree guys whats up? I want to LEARN! GTO George |

Mind games huh............Funny. I thought maybe there was a real reason for it. GTO George |
George, what you're used to is a track-by-track deal called courtesy staging. I don't recall my home track (SIR in Tucson) ever enforcing the rule, but I saw it enforced when I raced at the track in Roswell, NM years back. They mentioned it in the racers' meeting and had a blue light lit up on the tree that meant courtesy staging would be enforced. I always do it just in case the track enforces the rule, but it doesn't surprise me or bother me when someone turns on both bulbs at once in the other lane. it's my understanding that if someone turns on both bulbs first, the second guy can take as long to stage as he likes without being timed out by the starter or starting system.

funny Cars,

Why does it matter.................tree can't come down until both cars are staged. So its a race to stage also? I should just put both lights on and screw the other guy........thats OK? just wondering. in Pro Stock, Funny Cars, Etc. they don't just put both bulbs on.................? GTO George |
As usual George, they don't have a clue how it works.
 They think they get in the mind of the other guy. :D Those are the ones I look for, let them quick stage, mat the throttle. I take my time letting them bang away at the 2 step rattling their brains out, then stage and tree the snot out of them because their tranny is probably boiling over by now. :) |

first pre-stage second pre-stage first stage second stage If you already have pre-staged, he's done the next (2) in a correct order. No violation of courtesy staging; unless the other car does both bulbs before you've lit anything. I don't develop a favorite way to stage because that opens the other guy up to throw you off your rhythm. If I'm the first to stage, I don't go on the 2-step (Grocery Getter) or the high side (Boss Bird) until the other guy goes in. FWIW, Eric |
