After 10 yrs here, finally a better paying job.

With better benefits.

Passed physical and drug test.
Wasnt worried. Don't even do prescribed unless pinch a nerve in lower back occasionally. Has to hurt bad, and only use a mild muscle relaxer.

Will be busier(2-1/2 times larger shop, double the techs), but should make day go faster.
Wont have to answer phone all day long dealing with wholesale accounts that return 3rd of what they order.
And only have to deal with walk-in's while full time guy at that counter is at lunch or vacation, etc.

Bad news wont be able to spend days here any more.
Or nights till get new home computer. Haven't had one 11-12 yrs.

Giving notice tomorrow or Friday, and being a rival company, probly be told to leave.
So hopefully be back here soon.

Thanks in advance.
Mike

OH YA....:beerchug: and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Congrats on the new job! It sounds like Christmas came a little early.

Best wishes and Merry Christmas to you.

Major congrats!!!

Going to a different dealer?

I've been at my current job 3-1/2 years...man what a blessing over where I was for previous 14 years. Previous job was parts manager at a school bus dealership, got the mushroom treatment, did 5 peoples job, left on good terms. Now there are 5 people doing the job I performed all by my lonesome, yes really!!!

Life is way too short to work for butt heads!!!

I work on school buses now, and suburbans, pickups, vans. It's awesome!!!

Good to hear Mike, good things come to people who wait, although 10 years at a job that is tough to go to is no picnic, and a long time to wait.

Merry Christmas, Brad

Congrats and best of luck! But what are ya gonna do if they counter offer?????

Region Warrior 12-18-2015 04:27 PM

Thanks everyone.

Looks like be here another 2 weeks unless decide to take some time off.
Surprised the owner didn't tell me to leave.
First time anyone can remember that happening.

77 TRASHCAN 12-18-2015 04:37 PM

Wow, that's surprising.

I was hoping to get run out out of the building from my last job. They asked me if I could stay an extra week on top of the 2 week deal, my new (and current) boss allowed me that (does that give you an idea of how awesome my current boss is? :))

I'm was standing in my office on that day when I told them I was leaving, w/ my immediate boss, and the general manger, and 2 other people. The general manager tells me I did a good job, first time in 14 years of being there...I almost busted out laughing...:D

I think that says more about who you are than them - same goes for Mike!

As a small employer, I will say this:

Good help is hard to find!

It's an adage, sure. But man, when someone does their job well, is reliable, and I can trust them, I will look at what is really going on.

You might get an offer soon. Don't be shy. Tell them/him why you're leaving.

Heybuck 12-19-2015 09:05 AM

I would council strongly on NOT accepting a counter offer no matter how good it my seem.

All too often an employer will make a counter offer which if accepted can give them a "cushion" while they sort themselves out and look for a new employee. Once that new guy is established they can start finding reasons for letting you go

Good luck with your new career

Ian

Region Warrior 12-22-2015 06:56 PM

No worries, they cant/wont match the other place. Not even close.

Qball 12-22-2015 08:46 PM

Congratulations! Hope it works out for you. As fate would have it, I was offered a new gig today with a competitor. Much smaller place, many fewer layers of bureaucracy/management and I'll be able to make a bigger impact. I've known their service director for 20 years and know what he's about. Going to put in my notice tomorrow.

ponchjoe 12-22-2015 09:37 PM
