It's a 3 speed turbo 400 and you just leave in second gear. It's done through the Griner valve body.

johnta1 03-30-2016 03:06 PM

I was wondering if that is what he did, but figured it would be better to use a PG and save weight and rotating mass?

I know a lot of racers use a 1.80 1st gear in the TH400.
I also know a lot of guys that use 2nd gear in a PG.

:)

bpenrod 03-30-2016 03:40 PM

2 speed. Leave with a 1.48 ratio.

The 2nd gear leave is a poor mans power glide. lol 2nd gear leave reduced the starting line ratio enough to leave on the chitty mickey and leave consistently. We tried the 2.10 gear set and didn't have much success. That doesn't mean nobody can, it just didn't work for him. With the money wrapped up in the T-400 you could never recoup the money invested if he tried to sell it. Jim Hossler is the man with the T-400. We are very fortunate to have him here in Delaware. He is very easy to work with and his turn-around time is good.

To have a PG made to withstand that HP he is making would cost $3700-$4500and that's on the low-end.

:)
