Iowa vs. Virginia; dragster vs, door car. This is definitely Verdi's lucky day. He towed his all Pontiac 1968 Firebird out on an open trailer and then bought a $50.00 raffle ticket earlier. He won a spot for today's race and takes a reportedly $270,000 Jackpot home early this morning. Dickey gets a 0.005 starting line advantage, but can't run down Verdi, who ran 0.001 to his dial and scored a fifteen package. Jeff Verdi's MOV: 0.0115 seconds (approximately 3 feet). |
Wow just wow.
|
Holy ****!!! That's just awesome, congrats Jeff!
|
Congrats, Jeff!
:) That is an awesome achievement with all the best racers around, getting beat by PONTIAC POWER!!! :) |
Congrats, awesome driving and racing the best of the best.
|
I watched some of my Minnesota friends competing last night via Livestream and had to hit the rack to get up early to race today. Jeff was going rounds and making it look easy. Congrats to him and the entire Verdi racing family and team. One in a lifetime opportunity and achievement. Well deserved.
|
Nice job Jeff.

Big Congrats Jeff. Quite an accomplishment.
|
Congratulations on the huge win. That had to leave many on the west coast shaking their heads and wondering what the heck just happened when that pesky Pontiac showed up! Way to go.
|
Congratulation to The Verdi Team and Family.
That ought to make J Verdi a PY VIP now ! |
Congrats Jeff! What a great start for the new year.
For those who do not know Jeff, I've got to add that he is one of the most humble individuals you will ever meet. The last time I talked to him he told me about actually selling that 68, and then buying it back. I guess the guy couldn't keep a Pontiac engine together and gave up. I'm thinking the "Topgun" is a keeper. |
Awesome! Congratulations!
|
Congratulations Jeff. Wow. Some makes will not like that. Pontiacs don't run as I was told when I was a teen!
|
Jeff the man! Awesome.
|
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
And I thought he sold everything off a few years ago. |
Congrats Jeff and crew! That is so awesome! Great driving!
|
We came just a hair away from a Pontiac VS Pontiac final round.
|
Congrats Jeff! What a huge life changing win. When it's your day it's your day.
|
That has to be the most money ANY Pontiac Racer in History has even won in a Drag Race event or for that matter any "Pontiac competing" racing venue event. 270K. Big Time Win! YOU AND YOUR TEAM DID VERY WELL AND THE WIN/MONEY WAS THE ICING ON THE CAKE.

GTO George |
Great Job Jeff.
Need another Aluminum Block IA IIA? We have 14 in the pipe line. Nice Job, |
Great job, Jeff!
Certainly one of the best bracket racers I've ever known! Kinda nice to see you in a Pontiac, too! Jim |
Nice, congrats !!!
|
Thanks guys for the kind words! I really wish that 69 GTO had made it to the final!! How cool was it that two Pontiacs in at 4 cars!
To answer a couple of questions, yes the money got split up pretty good and you know only the winner loses in that deal! I can't be bummed about it, because in bracket racing you can lose or win any given round. And when guys like Luke Bogacki wanna do some deals then you do them. About my Firebird,3030lbs, 525 IA2Alum, wide port eheads, 1050 gas, glide, 4.30 gear It was a dream come true to win it!! |
