Barrett 2017

One of the vexing things is they always seem to cut out for commercial when a Pontiac is rolling up. But the live feed does not:

https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Live/Streaming/Video

all you have to do is sort out the auctioneers gibberish...

Stuart 01-19-2017 04:30 PM

I saw a pretty nice '55 Pontiac go across the auction block on TV last night, I think it sold for $45k or something like that.

68azbird 01-19-2017 04:53 PM

Went there last Sunday and seen them all.
Can't believe what the 68 GTO sold for with the paint bubbling off.

mrrat1 01-19-2017 05:27 PM

It seems every time I go to watch there's a truck on!

Scarebird 01-19-2017 05:31 PM

lotta trucks this time. and now the inevitable parade of 69 Camaros.

I didn't look that car over too carefully but weren't the problem spots on just the hood? $24,200 with buyer's premium seemed like a reasonable deal. $400 for a hood repaint and you would have a nice driver and be into the car for less than $23k.
I didn't get to look under the hood though.....

The blue 68?
That thing was bubbles all over, needs to be totally stripped down and re done.

TROYBOYONE 01-19-2017 10:58 PM

I saw that car on monday, It was terrible, bubbles over the entire car.

Heybuck 01-19-2017 11:55 PM

I can't understand a word the auctioneer is saying. Sounds like a chipmonk.

But I sure like watching the girl who opens the car doors. She has a very nice "rear end";););)

Scarebird 01-20-2017 02:01 AM

Indeed.

I am not getting some of the monkey motion here; do the cars coast to the podium or motor in?
And if they motor in, why have a couple of goofs push them off? They also have a guy whose sole task seems to be to open the hoods then close them.

1965gp 01-20-2017 02:20 AM

I am here now headed back tomorrow. I am surprised at the 55-58 Pontiacs here. Quite a few.

I noticed that too. I also think she's the one who puts the "SOLD" sticker on the window and writes the price thereon. That keeps me interested in the virtually infinite number of Chebbies.

If you think that there aren't enough Pontiacs shown, try watching for Packards!

mrrat1 01-20-2017 11:46 AM

I also noticed the nice can she has!! Cute also!!!
Wearing the same boots everyday.........

Rugratman 01-20-2017 11:52 AM

LOL - I thought I was the only perv...
I bet I know how she was "picked" for that job.

It's gonna be all Shelby this and Shelby that for the next couple of day's.
Thats OK, I like them too.

Barrett Jackson

Mrrat1 is right, wait until a mustang or a shelby comes up on stage, Steve Davis will take over the mike and it will get more than even the corvette gets

Broken windows @ B of A, McD's, and Starbucks!!

mrrat1 01-20-2017 04:29 PM

Muscle cars are selling cheaper than I would have thought. Seems the Pro touring types are getting good money.

Agree, I thought that LS6 with 7K original mile would go way over 100K

Noticed that real fast, this evening! Bet she's thrilled to do that job, 79 10th anniversary just went for 75,000.00

Stuart 01-21-2017 12:13 AM

Jim Mattson's 1969 Judge just went across the auction block, sold for $85k. They had a little feature with Jim prior to that, showing him going around to inspect the Pontiacs at the auction.

So, a little bit of Pontiac exposure. :)

77 TRASHCAN 01-21-2017 12:26 AM

Yesterday evening they cut away with a copper colered Pontiac pulling into the stage, this evening I could hear the auction announcer describing a RA3 engine as they cut away for a commercial...same old same old...
Steve Magnuts needs to quit quoting facts about vehicles he knows little or nothing about, stick with his mopar garbage! Seems like he's just takes my a stab in the dark on some of this stuff....tell the viewing audience like "maybe" this or that spec is or option is on this particular car....I caught him saying that disc brakes were an option on a 72 Chevrolet C10 pickup....duh!

Greg Reid 01-21-2017 12:55 AM

Just saw Jim Mattison's really pretty '68 RA go for $70K. Beautiful car but they barely showed it as it was leaving the stage.
I have been watching all evening. Saw the Mattison triple red Judge. Real nice car. I can't believe some guy paid about the same for a retro modded '70 base Charger. For a while there, it seems that every car across the block was hitting 6 figures.

Don57 01-21-2017 07:33 PM

Did anybody happen to catch the 1958 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser a few nights ago? Not my kind of car, but it nicely optioned and well restored. However, when Steve tried to close the passenger side door.......it wouldn't close......he had to walk along the car holding the door in. Eventually, one of the other BJ workers was toying with it as it got further down the ramp. And every once in a while you see things like one brake light out!

1965gp 01-21-2017 10:17 PM

Did the 10th anniversary with 246 miles go yet?

Jerry H. 01-21-2017 10:23 PM

Anyone notice and Spanky and Amy Assister are no longer with them as auctioneers?

Scarebird 01-21-2017 10:31 PM

^^^ yes.

poor Burt.

TROYBOYONE 01-21-2017 11:14 PM

Spanky has been gone for several years, had a falling out with B-J.

Newspaper article I read said he was with them through 2 auctions last year and then they 'parted ways' mid year.

Wareagle 01-22-2017 11:32 PM

Saw a Black 76 T/A 455 4 spd. go for 50K :) - Also saw a white early 70's T/A but they went to a commercial - what did that go for ?

I can only imagine what kinds of ego's the B-J wheels have. Seems like a big worship deal going on. The BJ deal keeps rolling on, kinda surprises me. There's seemingly a boatload of folks around that are financially blessed to buy all of those overpriced cars!
It's seems so funny when I was a kid in the 60's and 70's, those were all considered just a bunch of old junk cars...

Cardo 01-23-2017 07:37 AM

I have only seen 1 car in person that had gone through BJ back home here after the current owner bought it.... it was either a 69 or 70 Chevelle.... the guy had paid 140k for the car. I could not believe my eyes. Had a quick paint job on the car, hadn't even been totally taken apart before paint - mask lines here and there, even need some floor pan metal and had a half ass exhaust put on it and a rear main and tailshaft leak that had both been there for a while. I was absolutely floored. A #3 car at best for 140k.

sonjaab 01-23-2017 02:13 PM

Prices seemed LOW on many cars that went over the block.

Velocity channel is on DISH 246 in my area.

Greg Reid 01-24-2017 09:33 AM

The '58 Bonneville Fuelie did very well.
Seems like every other car was a Mustang or Corvette.

I wonder if he charged to PHS all the pontiacs. What is it $100 now, lol

77 TRASHCAN 01-24-2017 06:11 PM

In my opinion, the Pontiac's I saw sell, did OK,just OK.
Burt's car was only "excessive" Pontiac sale. Anyone thinking that the Pontiac brand was finally getting it's due, value wise last year, well I that ship submerged again.
That 243 mile 10th a Anniversary car didn't really do all that great.

Cristy Lee looks nice, but is anothe Danika deal...my opinion.
She looked at a 302 fender emblem on a first gen Bronco, and proceeded to tell the world it was a 320 V8...Git me a beer Edith!

Greg Reid 01-24-2017 08:00 PM

The only Pontiac I saw that brought really big money was the '58 FI Bonnie. It reached nearly $200K. That's pretty stout money.

Wasn't there a 70 GTO Judge convertible sold at around $140K ?

Or, maybe that was some other auction?

Or, maybe I was in dreamland...I was kinda zonked out during late evening running through the recorded auctions at 15X....

Greg Reid 01-25-2017 08:14 AM

I think I know the one you're talking about. Red/Red '70 Judge convert? I believe that it was one of Mattison's cars. I don't remember what it went for but that sounds about right.
