57 going on 17 :)

58, This coming May 7th, I will have owned My T/A for 40 years, that seems crazy!
I went to the local Olds, Pontiac, Buick, Cadillac, GMC dealer to look at Olds Cutlasses. I looked over in the corner of the lot, saw one black and one white Trans Am's. He asked me if I'd ever drive one ...no more Cutlass ideas in my head. I had $1000.00 saved up, it was the first year for GMAC to go to 48 month financing ( that's what they told me). Got it paid for in 3-1/2 years.
Chevrolet had just reintroduced their Z-28 that year, I was thinking about one of those, man that would have been a stupid move!

37 and feels like all of my friends are 50+ not many car guys my age. Maybe due to work life balance, maybe due to not growing up around these cars? Who knows?

48 and not aging like wine. I only seem to be getting more broken down and not better as I age but it sure beats the alternative as my dad says(he's 85).

At least there is one guy here older than I.

51 and I feel like my 67 gto with all my replacement parts. Parts on all four corners. New hips and two elbow surgeries. But still find a way to get under the car!

It's better to keep having birthdays than the alternative!

My dad sold GM products his whole adult life. Originally for an Olds/Caddy dealership and from 1963 on he sold Buick/Pontiac/GMC.

I still have my dad's 1964 Pontiac Dealer's Sales Manual.

36. I've been coming to this forum & others since 1999 when I was 19 and bought my first Pontiac engine Pontiac. I've even met members of this forum before... 12-13 years ago now. I went from being the youngest person in the room to the next to youngest ;-)

I always think of the 'Sally O'Mally' SNL skit with Molly Shannon and Danny DiVito.

Oooops, I am 63

It's a combination of complete unaffordability and not growing up around mechanical tasks like previous generations. This used to be an everyman hobby. You could buy a cool project car, cheap and scower junkyards for treasures. Those days are long gone and have been for 25 years. Cars are typically either complete trash or somewhat restored anymore. Restored cars command a crazy amount of money and we all know trashed cars cost more in the long haul. Most of these guys my age have piles of college debt, ridiculous day care bills and are just trying to make it all month to month. The only reason I have my GTO is because I got it when they were cheap. I love musclecars like no one else but there is 0 chance I go drop $30-40K for a GTO right now. The prices of these cars, that everyone loves to brag about right now, is what will kill the hobby.

52, AND LIKE BOWLING, I have great respect and enjoyment participating with fellas that are in their 70's & 80's.

Gives assurance that staying active is a healthy choice, for keeping original joints, posture, ability to have an occasional beer, avoid blood thinners, and have a forum to compete.

I don't mind doing upgrades, and preventing repairs, it's the danged extra materials & parts laying :noidea" around...

....and probably the quickest chassis & driver in this Poll

2016 I spent $16,400 on daycare, this year I will spend $22,900. We have 5 kids at home, 9,6,3 and 10 month old twins.

I turned 64 on inauguration day, was born the day "Ike" Eisenhower took office for his first term. :usflag:

I might have one or two more major projects in me, God willing................;)

The bad thing about wrenching on cars for a profession as opposed to doing it as a hobby, is it beats the living daylights out of your body. My Dad was a mechanic all his life and I saw the toll it took on him, you'd think I would have done something else.

My father did try to dissuade me from picking mechanics as a trade, but what did he know? I was obviously younger and smarter than he was...................:rolleyes:

So between the injuries sustained through my chosen profession, arthritis, and type two diabetes, it beats the body down, and makes mechanical projects that much more challenging.

Next time somebody tells you that you're old, tell 'em that they'll get old too one day....if they're smart enough!

You're walking down the road and think to yourself "Geez, look at that old Geezer over there!" Then you realize, "Hey, I went to high school with him". Lol

Better than that....I've done that before and it was ME!...A mirror where I did not expect it.
Me, 59 in August. I was about 45~46 when I joined this forum. Time DO fly!!

Body is 62 (creeeeak, ouch, ouch), mind is still 20.

Turned 65 last December and still rehabing a knee that got infected after a spider bite last June. Sure takes longer to heal from this sort of thing when one is older! Still able to get under the cars to work on various things, but those lifts that would fit in my garage are sure looking more attractive every day.

57 for me, right in the middle of the pack. Makes sense since these cars were old enough to be affordable right around the time the mid-late 50's crowd first got their drivers license.

I really enjoyed building Pontiacs over the years but starting a new project is off the table now. The mind may be willing but the body is just not what it once was.

67 on the way to 68

41. Got my 65 GTO at age 15 from my parents, who bought it when I was 8. As much as I have always been obsessed with hunting and fishing, I have always been even more obsessed with old cars. I guess when I was three or four we'd drive around and I'd identify every car we drove by. Still need to get my hands on a nice 55-57 Chevy to say my life is complete.

I'll catch Jim again in July for a while. 😊
Presently holding at 75. Appears we are a minority. Lol
