I think its a way cool build. Looks like a Tomahawk intake. Inspiring, If my 79WS6 4 speed TA ends up half that nice I will be happy. Seen how shinny those snowflakes are, got a lot of work in front of me.

er455 03-25-2018 08:26 PM

Thanks dragncar my car is a ws6 4 speed car as well with 22,000 original miles , I hope I don’t get HATE mail over taking the 4 speed out , but with a turbo car it’s just easier with a automatic ....

Dragncar 03-25-2018 08:58 PM

I took mine out so the wife can drive it, its hers. Put a T350 in it but I think I am going to put a T400 in just because a have a few ready to go. I just want to have a 450-500HP engine that looks stock. White with baby blue interior. Lots of work though. 43,000 mile car. The plastic stuff all got cooked, bought it in Medford Or.
But I still have all the 4 speed stuff in just in case.

Sweet, Very Nice on the package work and should make good power and performance on the track.

I had a TA exactly the same color.

Thanks guys , This forum and members were a big help in building my car and appreciated, now I need to get some track time in to see what it will run my goal was to have a 9.50 car. So if anyone can give me advice on getting that time slip let me know , I am thinking I might go with a FAST FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM so I can run bigger injectors as I am limited with the FiTech as it only has 80lbs right now and that is only good for about 840 horsepower on E85 ...also do you think it can be done with a 3:08 rear gear and 28” tall tire with turbo 400 ????

ta man 03-26-2018 12:14 PM

I'm not at the level of many of these guys but in some way I can relate my thoughts.
With full traction 9's should come..it will take some work. But safety will be the number one concern. I'm in the same situation running faster than I expected and under the 11.50 limit..I have marginal safety equipment SFI balancer,SFI flexplate, proper dated snell helmet, longer axle studs driveshaft loop...but still no rollbar. I've actually bought another shell to build because this car is too nice to fully change up. Luckily or maybe unluckily someday my local track is lenient on test and tune nights but I'm getting to the speed I'm thinking about my safety and my family.
Now with your car running into the 9's its a totally different set of rules even more stringent as all these guys are fully aware of.
Good luck and again awesome build!

840 HP is getting up there for a stock block. Bet it a blast to drive.

I ran these numbers through one of Wallace's calculators. 3800lbs, 840 HP, 28" tire, 6000RPMs through the traps.
It said ideal gear would be 3.59
Hope that helps. Check out Wallace's calculators, maybe put in actual weight since I just guessed.

Definite sleeper! Looks great.
I can agree with TA Man. Why I'm actually building the 79 Camaro/IA as my 78 with original interior runs too close or way under the rule.. 10.90s with light wheels, slicks, no spare. 11.50s on the button with DOTs heavy snowflakes and the spare back in it. The 1/8 mile track I could run 6.90s and no safety issues. 1/4 mile tracks maybe get a 10.90 off on test and tune night. Even built the pump gas motor to slow it down but ran just as fast.Depends on the track how lenient they are but 9s they will look at you.

Also one thing about some of the safety equipment- I usually had 30 psi in the slicks when hauling and left it down to 20(radial slicks). One night first pass I forgot to bleed them down and that much power the car got really squirrelly blowing the tires off, let off and shifted did the same thing in second-so that also made me think a roll bar/cage is something needed.

What A great looking car and build man!!!

Torquewar 03-27-2018 09:29 AM

Great car and stealthy.
With a fresh build you will making some adjustments on getting the car to hook etc.
Seat time at the track is key with a new build. Lots to learn but there are many here that can guide you.

Formula jg 03-28-2018 01:27 PM

Do you know the HP on motor only?

Now that you’ve built my dream setup I can hang up the keys and retire the car knowing this is off my bucket list hahaha.
