Don't know the car but it shines and looks great for an original paint car...

Highlights
400 CI engine
4-speed manual transmission
Believed to be 22,000 miles
Original paint
PHS documentation
Factory hood tachometer
Original wheels and hubcaps in trunk
Protect-O-Plate
Owners manual

Ram4king 01-05-2019 06:30 PM

I don't know why I'm saying this but I highly doubt that that car is a 22000 mile original paint car it just doesn't have that look from the picture.

supercar 01-05-2019 07:20 PM

Agreed.

J GLASGO 01-05-2019 09:21 PM

Be there tomorrow. Will check it out. Upholstery looks original to me.

wovenweb 01-05-2019 09:50 PM

Stickers on trunk lid look new.

60sstuff 01-05-2019 10:13 PM

If that is factory paint, it looks real nice. Not even a paint nick on the grill valance.

Dual pinstripes have the gaps at both ends of doors.

Trunk weatherstrip looks legit with wear and a tear at the back edge, typical.

The wood wheel has a low mileage look to it.

I hope someone can verify authenticity.

Cool it still has the factory wheels with it.

Chris.

Ducks Goat 01-05-2019 10:14 PM

Pinstripe is up to high so that might be a sign of a repaint, and I agree the trunk decals look new. If it is what they claim then the owner should be smacked for putting those ugly floor mats in it.

J GLASGO 01-06-2019 07:55 AM

Pin stripe is correct looking.

Old Goat 67 01-06-2019 09:46 AM

Pin strip up too high.

REPAINT.

Agree stripe is high, guessing the pass side mirror was added or seldom ordered option?

1969 Ram Air 01-06-2019 11:48 AM

Added side mirrors always kill it for me. Filling the holes, repainting....pass.

lugnutx2 01-06-2019 01:41 PM

I've owned a couple dozen GTO cars and none had that pass mirror, that wasn't even seen around here when the cars were then considered just used cars. Good on wagons, not on a GTO.

PHS documentation DOES NOT mean it has the correct motor, trans, rear end in it it jut means he has PHS documentation.Keep that in mind.

J GLASGO 01-06-2019 10:03 PM

All original paint. Nice car. Not perfect paint but nice. Interior is new. Under hood never painted. Really nice car. No idea on value.

Not gonna lie, that car had me fooled by the pics. Looks like new paint and original interior to me. Here's why I said the pinstripe is too high by around 3/8 to 1/2 or so. The blue is obviously the auction car, and the green is my original paint/stripe car.

Old Goat 67 01-07-2019 05:13 AM

Correct, BUT... they did get the hood scoop painted with the black in the openings!

J GLASGO 01-07-2019 06:16 AM

The cheesy wheels, tires, and floor mats do this car no justice.

The cheesy crap would go on the sidewalk with a Free sign.

It would be nice to see in photos the documentation (protecto-plate, PHS) as it states.

For a 22,000 mile car, that paint and stripes should look nice.

J GLASGO,
You say the interior is “new” ??
It looks “Original” in photos. The pleats look factory correct ??

Sometimes the photo angle showing the peak line in relation to pinstripes is misleading, or the stripe machine was off that Monday morning.
The way the stripes terminate (from end to end) looks factory.

Anyway, with the correct wheel disc, tires, radiator cap and stance this car would stand tall.

Chris.

Ram4king 01-07-2019 01:01 PM

Paint had me fooled too and the kicker was I thought the jacking instruction sheet on the inside of the decklid looks like a repo. Thought the originals were a warerslide.

J GLASGO 01-07-2019 02:00 PM

I meant the original upholstery is like new. Cool car though

J GLASGO,

Thanks for getting back to us!

Chris.

Mr_GTO 01-08-2019 09:21 AM

Damn, wish I could go. Still too much to do around the house. :(

J GLASGO 01-08-2019 09:42 AM

Hopefully this car goes high, because my brother or I will end up buying it. These survivor cars are all over the board on money. The wheels and tires, and not so shiny paint would make most think it's a beater.

Ram4king 01-10-2019 12:31 AM

Did you get it? Looks like it sold for 55k
Is that with fees?

Their site states sold prices do include the buyer's premium, likely 10% in this case, i.e. hammer price of 50k.

Sold for 50k. No I did not buy it. It is a great car, but all the tops has surface rust under the paint, even though rust free car. I would have painted it. A shame I know. Great piece for sure. All the marbles in my opinion.

Exactly why you take a car to auction.

JUDGEMAN70 01-10-2019 06:33 PM

I did not see car in person but another member here that saw car told me he thought bottom half of car was repainted.

J GLASGO 01-10-2019 10:20 PM

Not in my opinion.

wwbdsb 01-11-2019 09:55 AM

Sold for $55k. Hopefully the purchaser was knowledgeable or had it inspected by someone who was.

gto65conv 01-17-2019 07:08 PM

This thread is a couple days old, good time to say Glasco sold a black 68 GTO convert he did at Mecum that was over the top. I think he pulled the reserve too low, I spoke with him earlier and he was talking $10k more so I was out looking when it went through. He does fab work!
