Has anyone else seen this site show up as ‘Not secure’ in your browser? Started on my smart phone last week.

Same here. Don't think we have the best anymore.

Scott Thelander 01-29-2019 11:20 PM

a month now for me ........there must be some FORD guys trying to hack in ......

tininjun68 01-30-2019 12:39 AM

Lol on Blue Oval guys comment! I’ve got a ‘68 Fastback so maybe it’s me.

Bummer if security leads to bigger issues. I’d hate to lose this site. Probably haven’t gone a month and likely longer than a week without visiting in many years.

Half-Inch Stud 01-30-2019 09:09 AM

Not seen such. Has that been seen with an IPad?

tininjun68 01-30-2019 09:26 AM

Seen using Iphone

Old Goat 67 01-30-2019 10:02 AM

Let's face it, since the sale of PY, IT administration just ain't here anymore.

I'm surprised it lasted this long.
What a shame.

They are, but dm-fan Steve who did all PYs computer work is not with the site anymore. I’ll see what I can find out. I believe Eric Cassperson might be taking care of it now.

Firedup6975 01-30-2019 10:54 AM

Ok I’ve messaged them, I’ll sticky this post anyone having problems please post it here.

hobbygto65 01-30-2019 11:14 AM

If your logging on at McDonalds, not secure, If your logging at home your only as secure as your own wyfy.

Stuart 01-30-2019 11:58 AM

I didn't see anything from my home computer, or from my work computer either (and they have the security detection turned up way high here, too.)

Thank you for posting that. I personally use my i pad, and I stay logged on all the time, so I have not seen this warning. But that may help the Admins check this issue out.

GT182 01-30-2019 12:47 PM

I haven't seen it on my computer..... so far. I stay logged in also, so that might be why.

I have seen it for a while.

Maybe post-crash, and resurrection, or maybe pre-crash... I cannot be sure.

Also, I run (becasue I am a stick in the mud) the "PY online 2015" theme, and feel it's worth mentioning because vendors might get mad, that the adverts in the bar along the right side of the screen has been MIA since the site came back online.

It's hit and miss with me. Sometimes it'll complain about security, other times it's fine.

eric_cspan 01-30-2019 02:10 PM

Most websites now are popping up as unsecure now if they don't have an SSL cert attached.
Since this isn't a shopping cart site, I think we dropped ours off I believe. I will have someone look at it though.

Mine doesn't pop up with any messages though just as an FYI. That just might be in different browsers and formats.

Firedup6975 01-30-2019 02:41 PM

Thank you Eric:)

don't be a negative Nellie. We're all still here except for Steve.

unruhjonny 01-30-2019 03:15 PM

/\ well maybe I'm on the outside, but to me it has seemed near flawless.
There will be negative people, and any site is subject to goof-off who have nothing better to do than disrupt a website for nothing more than the challenge of it.

johnta1 01-30-2019 03:21 PM

I think now a days, most browsers have resorted to posting that message if the website has a log in form.
They (and Google) want evry site to be https (notice the 's').
I think PY went to that for awhile, but if the certificate isn't kept up to date, that message will be very annoying.

Looks like PY isn't using that https, so it's probably the phone's browser doing the complaining. Should be able to add the site to the 'white list' or whatever it's called in the settings?
(making it an OK site to visit)

If this was your banking site or in the catalog section ordering parts, then maybe it would need a secure setting.

Yes and Stacey not to go off subject, but she was fantastic at taking orders, and knowing her stuff about parts. Truly missed.

Agree but this topic was about forum staff.

And btw, we had Stacey come back but travel really got to her. Unfortunately for us she found something close to where she lives. :(

Steve also left on his own power. :) Steve was super laid back Silicon Valley come and go when you want kind of guy. We were fine with that for years but then as we grew, we needed more structure and his position kind of took on a lot more responsibility and therefore some stress. It started not to be very enjoyable for him.

So anyway.......thank you and Eric for addressing this matter, of the pop ups. I was only trying to help. Sorry for taking it off topic.

You have to actually click on the 'not secure' script in the browser space to get that message.

No security warnings getting up this side of the pond. Not on my home or work computer.

But hey, don't alert the Admin to the fact the ads don't appear on the 2015 theme. We don't want it turned off.

I LOVE the older 2015 theme. Don't like the updated one at all:(

I understand, but all jokes aside, I also understand how ads bring in revenue to pay for hosting fees ect - so my alert is two fold;
1) I want to see this site stick around
2) if I was a vendor paying for advertising, I'd want to know what I'm paying for is actually working.

I am "in charge" of a website, we have endures several bad attacks, and a couple attacks ago our IT guy left... so we're screwed, and I never put in place any revenue making part of the site, so I am footing the bill to keep the site up...
A part of me wants to keep it up, another part of me (especially when the exchange rate is bad for me) want to just pull the band-aid off, and kill it.
I have tired a couple times to look for help, but I dont' think i even know where to start looking for help.

You have to use https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/forums/index.php

Old Goat 67 01-31-2019 03:44 PM

OK, that fixed it. Thanks

Old Goat 67 01-31-2019 03:47 PM

Eric,

Could you look at why it does not show a tread as "Read", unless you go to the sub forum and mark them all as Read.

Heybuck 01-31-2019 06:41 PM

I agree.

Yes, I do wholeheartedly agree with your points. Ideally maybe the admin can get the ads back up and still retain the 2015 format. I hope they can.

Greg Reid 02-01-2019 02:20 AM

Funny, the thread I went to prior to this one still showed 'not secure' but this one does not show that.

The Champ 02-01-2019 09:24 AM

I'm still seeing the "Not Secure"...

johnta1 02-01-2019 12:52 PM

Are you using the link posted above?
Or the browser bookmark?
(and cleared your browser)

fyrffytr1 02-01-2019 05:58 PM

I cleared my favorites list of the PY forums then reloaded it and am now getting a secure connection.

400 4spd. 02-01-2019 09:58 PM

I could always count on Steve to hook me up with tower passes for P.I.T.P. with the contest questions. Man, I miss those days.
