Just browsing through old threads & realized I have been on this forum for nearly 19 years.
I Joined in 2001 after purchasing my 68 GTO & have been hooked every since.
Lots of info, lots of laughs, mixed in with a little venting from time to time.
I know there are active members that have been here for over 20 years now.

So who wins the longest membership award? :D

Quick glance shows Jim Hand, join date 12/14/99.
Brian Baker, Dr Skip, Larry Navarro, Pontiac Dude, & David Holmberg as well as several others joined late Dec 1999. Am sure there are many who miss Jim's, David's, & Ken's contributions!

Great question. I've wondered about that myself. Does anyone hear from Holmberg anymore? And yes, I remember the old Javascript. And Rash.

I miss Jim Hands contributions. Thankfully got to listen to him speak at several events before he took a step back. Ken Keefer was a mountain of Pontiac and general performance knowledge.
I hate to ask what’s up with Holmberg?

I joined in 02, Holmberg is still around. I talk to Cobra Bill every once in a while.

12/23/99 here, gave myself an early Christmas present that keeps on giving.

I began lurking on the old board around 1996 and joined by 1998. I naturally joined the new one when it came online in 1999 (?).

I chat with Bill weekly on FaceBook, as well as Holmberg, Keefer, Misus, the Zeeks, and Bob Dillon.

Pretty sure I joined in June of 1873.

I joined this new board the first day it was available (12/20/99?) and was posting here quite a few years before that.

I used to read the old board, but didn't join this one until mid 2001. Drifted away for a few years, and only had Bob, Holmberg and Baker on my FaceBerg. Last year I burned down my FaceBerg.

I've been on the board since June 2000, although not that much of a poster, as this is, according to the counter, my 138th post in 20 years.

PontiacDude aka Ken Keefer is still alive and well in Brookesville FL. I chat with him weekly, sometimes daily on FaceBook. He closed up his business several years ago and is "semi-retired" these days. Within the last year he has gotten back into drag racing with his black '76 T/A, competing in the heads up 6.50 index class at tracks near his home.

December 1999 for me and was on the old boards too.

Was lurking in "the wild west" (old boards) before joining. Known Spotts and Chris Carperson since the early 80's ( as other also knew ). Back then there was a preference to visit rather then call, text or write.

There was a wild bunch for sure that would fit in with Yellowbullet. Really think it started to settle-down in a couple years after the volunteer Moderators proved immovable.

There was a tech bunch, a resto bunch, and a junkyard "original know-it for sure" bunch.
MAYBE there is a Show-bunch but i've avoided Car Shows.

Ability to Buy & Sell with known personas is nice.

I bought my '66 Grand Prix from Peter Klabo (Ventures Unlimited) back in June 1999. When it finally arrived here in Oz I asked him for some contacts and he recommended (the then VERY new) eBay, Ames and also for some hints and tips, keep an eye on the PY site.

Finally joined up in September 2000. Certainly been good to me. :)

Damn thats a long time ago....

Those of you who remember the old boards should remember the general lack of civility among many of the players. I had to quit reading the old boards because I didn't want my granddaughter reading over my shoulder.

The current forums are more Pontiac (and civility) oriented. Vast improvement.

I wasn’t visible on this board when it started but did read it as I was restoring my 67 400 coupe Firebird back then and was even buying parts from Paul Spotts and Chris from their homes until they finally opened a business in a building. I’ve known them both a very very long time and live just 15 minutes from the current Pypes & Coldcase location in Hatfield PA.

So was that a 28.8k dial up connection, or did you have the high tech 56K?
Still remeber running out and getting a 56K modem when AOL supported it. want to say that was a little before 97, but I am not positive.
Such a big deal back then. Could load a 1mp picture in under a minute. Freaky fast! :D

This thread prompted to look at my join date. 10 days away from an 18 year anniversary. I'd like to think I matured slightly in that time, so I've altered my profile picture to be my car instead of a phone cranking puppet. (I said slightly) I just made Chief Pontiyaker, I figure I should start acting like one.

I didn't have ANYTHING! I had to log-in from work, during my lunch break ;-) It was probably close to two years later, before I had internet access at the house.

I don't remember what year it was, guessing somewhere about 1980. We were running our company on a Radio Shack TRS-80 model 3. Dow Jones announced a service where, if you programmed your own communications protocol (they gave parameters) you could access a "real time" news agency, with stock quotes, current weather, and movie reviews. I think my daughter would have broken the bank had I allowed her unlimited access to the movie reviews.

We had a 300 baud dial-up modem at the time.

300 baud. That had to be brutal. But in 1980, Possibly amazing! I work in the security industry & we still use old Hayes 1200 baud smart modems for phone line programming some control panels. I thought there was a 28.8 I do remember 14.4 & 36.6 for sure.

Getting a little off topic, but still interesting

Ragtop - the 300 baud was fairly soon replaced with a 600 baud, which was the maximum that could be transmitted over normal telephone lines at the time.

About the same time, I was working as a systems programmer (then day job) working for the state. My job covered database, and telecommunications. We paid big bucks for a "conditioned" 1200 baud line.

Basically, "batch" communications.

A part of my past that I have almost forgotten. We had to write our own communications programs, as we had Burroughs mainframe and Datapoint terminals. I will NEVER forget the time the conditioned phone line "blinked", reset, and the double buffering feature of the program lost one buffer. Had to rewrite to check that the received data was the same as the sent data. Slowed things down by 1/2, but the batch jobs were done overnight, and still finished OK.

During one of the web upgrades I lost 10,000 posts I had made on Pontiac Technical stuff. Never used to hang out in the Lobby.
Scott Misus was the "Gach" of the PY Board in the old days.
Larry Davis was part of that group as was Mongo. David H and I attended Larry's Funeral. Killed at a stop light on his motorcycle.
