A Prayer Request
Long story short, my wife had traveled to Alabama to take care of her mom following major surgery on Jan 12th. She returned home on Saturday evening, Jan 20th. The next morning she tells me she thinks she's coming down with a cold. Because of the covid threat she goes to urgent care Tuesday evening, and has a covid rapid test, which shows positive.
Just because she is a nurse, she thinks she can work at her office in our house, and push through it. Anyone that knows any nurses well, will tell you they are the absolute worst patients ever. She is diabetic so she is much more susceptible to this disease. At this point she thinks she may have pneumonia, and is getting worse each day. I'm very concerned for her health, as well as my own. I last tested negative on Wednesday but as contagious as it is, I'm worried I also may contact it. I'm diabetic, have hypertension, and asthma, doing my best to stay away from her, but living in a 3 BR home is hardly conducive to staying away from the threat. Anyone that could offer up some prayers for my wife Monica, I would greatly appreciate it. This is a wretched disease. Thank you again to all that can offer up prayers for her, it is greatly appreciated. Brad Yost |

My wife has taken time off from work finally, and has a call into the doctor, so we're waiting on him to possibly prescribe something. Ohio is slow to vaccinate, so neither of us has gotten vaccinated yet. Vaccination now is a moot point at this juncture. |
Glad to hear she is taking some time off- hope she gets better soon.
|
Prayers to your wife and you.

Hope and pray your wife will make a quick recovery. I am sure as a nurse she knows all the correct things to do, not to mention she is a woman and is much stronger then men in mind and body lol. I have heard dexamethasone and monoclonal are good therapies for covid -19 patients that are not always mentioned to all people who are infected with covid.
Stay strong and safe everyone |
Prayers for you both!

Hope all works out well.

Prayers going up for both of you. I just went through it in our house. My 36 yo daughter got sick the first Sunday of this year. She lives in the house with me and due to my son's family living here too she had been living in the formal living room since March. There was no way we could close her room off other than the cloth curtains she had up. Everyone else in the house stayed away and she made sure she was masked up if she had to go to the restroom or kitchen.
I was sure I would get it as I had been close to her for the three days prior, and I had to take her to the ER, but I didn't get it and no one else in the house got it. She was pretty sick for about 4 days and then gradually got better. By the end of the 14 day quarantine she was fine. If you stay away and make sure she masked up then you should be fine. I'll keep you in my prayers! |
Prayers for you both.

The doctor had her come into the ER for blood work, and chest X ray tonight. New cough medicine, and an inhaler from the pharmacy tonight also. She is really feeling it, and is weak. Hopefully it will turn around in a day or so.
Tonight my throat is just a tiny bit sore, I hope it isn't beginning to get ahold of me too. Been doing masks and distancing, separate rooms, but there's no guarantee I didn't contact it before she took the test. She was feeling like she had a cold for almost 3 days before she went to take the test. We don't need both of us sick at the same time. I want to thank everyone who has responded, with advice, and prayers. |
Get well
The two of you are in my thoughts and prayers!
|
Brad, you and your wife are both on my prayer list. Be of good faith.

My wife is resting today, she says she feels about the same as yesterday, so at least no worse today. Everyday up till now she said she was feeling worse each day. Eating and rest are what helps that I've heard thus far.
I'm still feeling fine, keeping distance washing hands, masks when we are out of the bedrooms. I'm taking Zinc lozenges about 8 times a day. Evidently vitamins C and D, and Zinc ward it off, and also contribute towards recovery. I'm doing all of the above, as is my wife. She has for the most part lost her sense of smell and taste, mine is still intact. I want to thank everyone again for the prayers, it seems to be helping. |

Doc's nurse called today, X Rays show the lungs are clear, heart isn't enlarged, and labs are good. Good News!!!

Prayers have been sent and will continue.
God will bless. |

May God bless & keep you all safe and well, Amen.

Happy to hear about the good lab results. Keeping lungs clear is very important as you know. Lots of prayers and good wishes on the forum for you and your wife. I have had many friends and colleagues infected with this virus. The vast majority have pulled through with lots of rest, meds, and time. Don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for her to really feel herself again. Hang in there.

Good news is always a welcome blessing. Continued prayers sent for your wife's full recovery and your well being.

Thoughts and prayers to the whole family!

Thank all for the prayers, we may be turning the corner from what I'm seeing. My wife has had mild progression each day, still has the horrible cough, even with cough syrup and inhaler. At least she is resting and not getting worse each day. So far I have no full blown symptoms, but with asthma I have respiratory signs daily, same as always. She is really easy to exhaust, just mild exertion will put her sitting down in a chair in a minute or two. Like walking from one end of the house to the other. She still has an appetite, which is a good thing, many people quit eating during this virus, that just makes them go downhill from lack of nutrition. Even though she has had some pretty severe symptoms, I feel they are lessening a little each day. The power of prayer is strong!!! Thanks to all that have participated, in any way........... |
Thankful that you and your wife are doing better.

Looks like the docs, meds and prayers have done their job. My wife still has a hacking cough, but it has diminished. I believe she's out of the woods as far as beating the covid.
She lost her sense of smell and taste, but that will probably return in time. I may have contacted it too, but since I started the zinc regime, as well as well as vitamins C and D mine was pretty minor compared to hers. I seemed to have lost my sense of smell too. My symptoms were minor compared to hers. A few more days in quarantine, and we'll be back in service, maybe not at 100%, but I'm sure we'll be fine. I've also noticed in the evenings I get chilled like before bed I feel chilled. Wife says he has the same symptoms in the evenings. Thanks to all that responded with prayers and well wishes, I appreciate everything from the PY family............ |
I am glad to hear your wife is improving each day a little and you haven't had severe symptoms. I have had over a dozen friends and people I work with contract COVID now. Symptoms and severity have been all over the map, as have their ages, from their mid 30's to 75 years old. One common thing I hear from everyone who has had symptoms: Fatigue is a lasting condition that will fade very slowly. My older friends have not been back to full strength for 6-8 weeks. So, your wife needs to take good care of herself and get lots of rest. At least 2 of my friends have not recovered their full sense of taste and smell over several months. Take care and take it easy.
