four more.

The new owner told me he purchased the car from someone in Long Island. He changed the 4.33 to a 3.55. He said 3,600 RPM at 60mph is not good. He is also changing the bias ply tires to redline radials.

Very nice car.

Not familiar with the GTO, is it a RA2 car or did Royal put a 428 in it?

It was built into a RAII by Paul Menin from MA.

73LeMans 09-15-2021 03:49 PM

Ive seen this car in person. Its phenomenal.

TAKerry 09-15-2021 04:26 PM

I love the paint scheme on that GTO, both are great looking cars!

I'd like to know too. I'm a Smokey & The Bandit fanatic, took the pix and the car is mine and still don't know.

I must live in a cave. LOL.

BAN ONE was already taken. Closest I could get is what is on the plate.

Never thought I'd see that question asked here. lol

napster 09-15-2021 07:05 PM

That movie clip really messed up the sound of the engine. Sounds like they changed the original sound.

stuta 09-15-2021 07:44 PM

Well Surprise surprise....some Burt trivia that thought Everyone knew on this site.
We're all still learning every day : )

BTW...cool rides!

Darren 639 09-15-2021 08:58 PM

Love that car. Hopefully he will bring it to the Dover drag reunion. Saw it sell on BAT. nice description and photo collection.

Very nice car.

I can relate to that 3600 rpm at 60 mph. Great for driving around on city streets, bad for the freeways, (if you don't want to get run over by the Buses, Trucks, and everyone running 75-80 mph).

turbo69bird 09-16-2021 03:22 AM

Yeah that’s a nice car Paul always did nice cars. His body guy was in NY did a few of my drag race friends cars they were straight as an arrow and not a sand scratch or imperfection. Anywhere .
Real RAII or not you couldn’t restore it for that price today.

Wonder who had it in New hartford that’s my neighborhood and didn’t even know paul had sold it here.

The original soundtrack was a million times better. Sounds like they used a clapped out dump truck for the T/A sound file.

blue81ta 09-16-2021 12:39 PM

I've seen this GTO at Musclepalooza. It's amazing. I've seen a number of Paul Menin's cars... everyone of them have been absolutely stunning. As always Nap your T/A is mighty fine too.

napster 09-16-2021 12:54 PM

Keith,

How are you and things in Saratoga? Hopefully, very good.

Yeah, this GTO is really nice. Wish I had the money to get it when it was on BAT.

I really liked this show I went to on Sunday. Saw a lot of great cars and had good conversations with the owners.

Later,

Jim

blue81ta 09-16-2021 01:23 PM

Jim,

I'm doing well and all is good Sir. Hope you are doing well also. If the weather is good on Saturday I'll meet up with the local Pontiac club for a little Cars and Coffee. Maybe do a show or two before the snow flies.

napster 09-16-2021 01:30 PM

Keith,

Nice to hear things are ok.

I'm doing good too. Going to RI for "a Pontiac Celebration " show. over the weekend.

Jim

Here is a better sounding movie clip of some of S&B.

turbo69bird 09-27-2021 07:11 PM

Can’t believe you guys picked up on the fact that wasn’t the right sound track . I liked S&B alit growing up but never would have picked up on that

Formulabruce 09-29-2021 01:42 PM

The Paint Scheme on this Bobcat is similar to a same year Hurst Olds. Think the Olds has a Wing though.

68gtoMN 09-29-2021 05:40 PM

Hood tach needs to be 5500 rpm redline for RA cars...

No wing on olds

turbo69bird 09-29-2021 06:10 PM

Who owns that car now? I was talking to the owner at the fly in but didn’t catch his name etc. He ran off to hear the show results
Wanted to take a better look at the car.

Ram4king 09-29-2021 11:17 PM

I'm reading all these post and im asking myself. Do these guys know something I dont? This is not a ram air car and is certainly not a bobcat. Its not even a real meridian turquoise car. What am I missing. This is a clone made from a run of the mill gto.
Nice looking car but whats with the hoopla? Lol

burd 09-30-2021 09:03 AM

That car is really butchered under the hood. Crazy. How much Hzp do you get by drilling holes in the aircleaner. Unreal.

Are we confusing two different vehicles? There have been several of these knock off paint schemes over the years.

napster 09-30-2021 04:31 PM

Some people don't get it. Whether a car is a clone or not, if it is done right, as the GTO is, and is not presented at a show or being sold as the real thing... Who cares. Enjoy it.

I have a 1970 GTO that was cloned into a Judge and love it. I don't hold it out as the real thing and enjoy it.

There is a person who posted that the under hood of my '78 TA is butchered. The holes serve a purpose so my car can idle.

The car is equipped with a FAST EZ 2.0 EFI system. The instructions require the shaker to be open to supply air to the EFI. The shaker is functional on my '78. Therefore, the flap is closed at idle and will not allow the engine to idle. This required the holes in the drop base unit which was necessary to accommodate the shaker because the intake manifold is an Edelbrock RPM Performer. By the way, the EFI works really good.

The holes give me a lot of power...590HP @5500 and 625TQ @4,000 from a 461 stroker. Thank you very much.......
