Just dynoed my 350P 2.0 build and cant wait to get it in the Ventura!
584.5hp/523tq on 93 octane BUILD SPECS ,030 custom Autotec pistons Eagle 6.625" H beam rods Eagle 3.75" stroke cast crank 10.7 comp. Cranks 175lb Custom solid roller cam 244/[email protected]" .676/.670 lift 112LSA KRE D-port heads bought bare as cast Custom chamber and port work to maximize potential with the small 3.905 bores 2.055/1.625 valve also for best 3.905 bore power Victor intake manifold with tapered spacer (Fully ported Street Dominator produced a bit stronger curve below 5000 rpm but lower peak numbers...576hp/521tq) 950HP Holley carb 1 3/4 headers Started this build with a goal of 575hp/525tq on pump gas and a 10 sec Ventura (NA) in street trim. 2 boxes checked! Cmon spring! |
Real real nice job!
That high level of torque is very much due to all that valve lift and the attendant amount of air mass it allows to pass through the intake tract and the average high level of port velocity that is made! Air flow and velocity go hand in hand in at least a 50/50 ratio! A whole bunch of folks on here would love to have there .060” over 428 making that much power! Once again that’s a sweet motor ! |

Congrats on the build/achievement! Where's your local track for testing? I know here in NJ, Atco is usually the first to open in mid March for T&T if weather cooperates...best of luck with whichever track you test at!

Here are the best pulls for a ported T2, the ported HSD, and a reworked Pro Products crosswind. Really think the PP intake will be the best street intake? Wishing I had spent more time with the PP but we had 5 intakes and 4 carbs along to test. Knew it was gonna be a long day and honestly was chasing numbers. Sigh. I'm doing a 350P now, great to see your post. Can I ask a few questions? As-cast the KRE chambers are 65 cc, what size did you end up with after working the heads? Did you find you needed the block eyebrows with the small valves?

When I built my 1.0 version it made 385hp/425tq with 8.8comp, flat tappet cam and mildly ported iron heads I was pretty proud. Posted it on a FB group and he basically told me it was a joke and NO ONE would ever beat his "King 350". Challenge accepted!😎 Where I differ from him is I hope someone now realizes these little guys have potential and instead of scrapping one builds one better than this one. Pretty sure I could have topped 600 with this one but Mama told me it needed perfect street manners. Little cam made for a helluva torque curve though |

Seems the 3- Intakes are within measurement error. But my real point is to wonder which Intake promotes the best acceleration under load in the 1/4 mile.

After watching Engine Masters within the last week on Motor Trend they had a NA 350 chevy that they dynoed, and you exceeded their numbers. When you're able to exceed the engine that has had more development time, and money thrown at it in the last 65 years, you have really done something well....:thumbup:
Nothing I like better than to see a chevy beaten by a Pontiac on an equal playing field. As long as your car hooks, your gonna break some hearts.....LOL |

While we are handing out over due applause for killer Pontiac 350 motors let’s go back to 1974 and Burt Straus and his Sunbird that I saw run a 8.85 in the 1/4 mile early that Summer.
It was well worth my two flat tires that I had to deal with to get to Englishtown and see that take place! |

For years, Tom S. and I have been discussing WHY so many Pontiac guys dismiss the 350P. Tom has advocated for a stock stroke, stock rod length build using either the KRE or E-heads. This build SHOULD open eyes AND minds to the potential of the 350P when properly planned, engineered and built.

Congratulations! Your hard work really shows on those dyno sheets. Maintaining the torque line, (your words), is extra impressive. The hardest part from here will be convincing people it's a 350!

Since i have a 350 block sitting on an engine stand wondering if it will be built or wind up in a scrap yard, i found this topic interesting.
a ballpark calculation puts the VE of this engine over 120%. |
The best way to look at the power level that the 354 cid motor that started this string is producing is that it’s making 1.47 ft lbs per CID.
