Been looking at the street and race section last few days street has well over 350 and race 200 people on?? Is this for real it’s over double of the most I have ever seen on at once. It’s been the last two days.

Been noticing the up tick for a while. A lot seem to be viewing user profile.


Noticed the huge increase today.

Yet only about 50 members are online. Seems odd.

There’s a guy with a YouTube channel called Junkyard Digs. He has over 1 million subscribers and just posted the 2nd video bringing a barn find 68 Bonneville back from the dead. Maybe his subscribers have found this forum and are starting to lurk?

There hasn't been any uptick in new members. Maybe one or two a day, same as always.

The bots be crawling pretty hard lately.

Sections that rarely see any activity now all have 20+ viewing???

I noticed when all those bots are logged on everything takes a while to load. Wish they would go away!

They`re actually not logged on. They are guests, not members. They do clog the server though.

It`s exploding badly. Just checked the bottom of home page.

Every board has it`s lurkers/guests, and they are harmless. But, I believe we have a good bit of data mining going on.

Unless everyone just started hating chevies, mopars, fords, hondas and facebook.;)

Can you tech guys create some kind of "guest" filter or limiter? If it's data mining, I'd imagine there are indicators of who/what these entities are.

Agree. Seems a possibly obvious way to identify creepazoids that infest PY.

And again, I'd pay a modest membership fee to fund tech support on this forum if it could address security issues like this when they surface.

I’ve had 4 comments in the last few days on the pictures I have in my albums. The comments have nothing to do with my pictures. I don’t think I’ve even had someone post a comment to any of my pictures in the 15 years I’ve been a member here.

I need to log in when I come here, which is everyday....frequently...At least the guest count would come down one anyway

Currently at 5 am ... 2169 (8 members and 2161 guests)

A couple of links in the right places can lead to a lot of traffic for a while as people peruse the forum to see if they like it, or can find the info they need. One link from a source that has a million subscribers generates a lot of views.

Still, that's a lot of guests for 5 am.

2161 guests sounds to me like BOTs.

I would probably start looking for similar IP #s , similar start times , and similar lengths of stay ... just to get a loose handle on any weird similarities ... and see if some decisions need to be considered .

Lengthy stays by numerous clients usually indicates the formation of a bot army.
Not always a malicious thing ,,,, but most times it is .

So it's not just my computer.
Pages taking a gawd awful long time to load; thumbnails equally long, and they don't come up as an inset with the scrolling arrows. Just full screen with it's own URL. In other words I have to backpage to return to the thread.

I had been getting some random lag on here for maybe a week..

Super slow this morning.

I run my Firefox browser in HTTPS mode all the time and I get this window when trying to log on to P/Y.

After I log on it does say where the lock is in the address bar, Verified by Sectigo Limited and the HTTPS is in the address bar showing secure.

Forum speed seems back to normal right now, although there's still a very high number of 'guests' viewing the site:

Maybe a coincidence , but forum pages loading smoothly today.

I agree that there is probably bot activity or some sort of low-level DDOS attempt. I would be wary about site wide guest restrictions or blanket IP address bans, simply because there probably are some legitimate lurkers that would get caught in the crossfire. Maybe a captcha or other anti-spam method after viewing a certain amount of pages if not logged in?
