RAIV on Hemmings
|
Thanks for posting it will be interesting to watch
|
Cool car. $120k you think?
|
Not trying to knock the car but would you think when the did the restoration they would put the correct fender supports in. Just a peeve of mine maybe with early 2nd gens. A RAIV is certainly worth it. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to own it!

The wheels are ? " no issues" is what it says.. REALLY?
Shifter issues? Fender wrong... For a real investor, Not a flipper.. its not as correct as it should be. Might go for $165 K . On the auction writers... I dislike the more common auction writers languages about items. Example. " The " correct" transmission sits behind the blue engine" what does " CORRECT "actually mean? Or , " a proper 3 speed turns the drive shaft" < just stooopid > " a quadrajet sits atop the intake" , Really ?? Thats it? " Its said to have the correct gears" , Really, no rear code?? Looked at a 66 Vette Big Block for sale on line. NOWHERE in the ad was the transmission even mentioned, aside from a general " numbers" statement. The Truth WOULD HAVE HURT.. Said like a writer... The giant 427 breathes deep through dual exhaust as it spins the torque converter.... in its BORN WITH Power glide. I barely could see the shifter gear selector in one pic... So much is said to make people assume one thing, but not actually saying it. Rant off.. |

For this car you would think they would get it correct. Thing that screams something bad happened to this car body wise is the incorrect front fenders and the rear spoiler gaps. the shape and gap of the rear QP on the passenger side next to the taillight is closed. not the correct spacing. the other side looks twisted. Body lines and spacing tell a lot about what or how the car was put together. Also the door the QP body lines do not line up at all. I know these cars were not perfect when they left the factory but after seeing a couple hundred of these cars over the last 35 years you can tell the ones that were whooied together. This is not what I would buy for that kind of money. |
In Hemmings back in the early 90s I passed on it then but checked it out , if anybody needs any info send me a message
|
It’s pretty rare that its original block is still in one piece.
|
When the 190 watchers gonna start bidding on it?!?
|
Only at $55k with 3 days left... the 3 bidders and 246 watchers all waiting to the end I guess
|
I believe this is the 1st 70' RAIV built in Norwood. Regardless of prior restoration faults, it still has it's pedigree.
|
|
Top bid was 82,500
Nobody really went after it. Sporting bids |
In all of these years this is the first RAIV auto I've seen. It's not perfect but it looks like a nice car. You don't get many opportunities to buy these

Then, I'm guessing mine would be your 2nd one R 70 Judge.

There was a white/blue interior auto on the column Ram4 that sold a couple of different times at the big auctions , several years ago. Was not top notch necessarily , sold for around 100k both times.
In 2006 a friend had just completed a full resto on a 70 Ram4 4spd , white/blue interior. Showed it at 2006 POCI in South Carolina , was offered 125k That was full monte at the time. He turned it down and said next year it will be worth 150k , 10 years it will be double that. He was pretty much right about it. |
I had no idea that there was another auto column. Any magazine articles out there on the car?

I think the last time it sold was within the past 5 years.
Mecum or Russo Steele. |
a SmokeyBandit car brought more than the Ram4Auto Column car at same auction.
is something else I remember |
I never understood the value some place on Smokey and the Bandit cars over early 1970 to 1973 Trans Ams.... at least here in California those gutless smokey cars can't be modified due to smog laws; so just don't get it.

I do like the black and gold SE T/A's... don't wanna deal with the Burt comments.... besides... I prefer round headlights and a curvy hood. |
Maybe they think they're going to win over Sally!!
|
Why has no one bought this? Someone said it is worth double my "$120k" estimate? Where are the buyers?
|
The highest offer is shown as 101k
Its worth more than that , even though that is a lot of money. But I don't think I would value it at 189k as it sits for numerous subjective reasons. Doesn't matter much because I'm not a prospective buyer |
so what is the story on this car? i cant imagine it not bringing anything. ive known some rough rough ram air 4 70 ta's bring more than that.
|
Somebody educate me. How can you tell that the fenders on this car are wrong?
I'm assuming that 70-73 fenders are the same. 74-77 are the same and 78-81 are the same. Thanks. |

Thanks, jhein for clearing that up. I was racking my brain trying to see any differences on the outside part of the fender.

T/A
I have been in contact with the seller on this car unfortunately it`s not the right time of year for a road trip to ND or it would probably be in my garage by now. Got info from Matt which helped a lot, Thanks Matt. A price has been agreed to and he said he will give me 1st shot on the car.
The incorrect fenders don`t bother me that much the important thing to me is it`s a number matching car and perfect for me as I like to drive my cars., KC |
SUPER!! Good luck. Hell of a car.
|
That's about where I see it , as it sits .
Mostly a quality driver , with perhaps a show quality exterior. Good blend of car factor/equity factor for a usable car. When they go full blown - the equity factor overtakes the car factor. I bet its a real fun car to drive Hope it works out for you Chief . |
