Just an indication of how bad the race section has gotten here (people being banned or run off or just quite racing). Norwalk the biggest Pontiac race of the year is next week and not a single thread in the race section about it. Use to be pages and pages about it and who was going, who was calling out who, what was the Q16 bump going to be (which appears to be getting slower the last few years that's sad also). Now just crickets. Sad!!
It's interesting to search back and read threads from years past. The good old days are no more. PY isn't what it once was.

I think things slowed down around here when it became clear EHTTFMF's!

A lot of hopes, dreams and budgets were shattered. Many folks are still licking their wounds. :D

I stopped going when I could not get a non stop flight to Cleveland that was not a redeye,at close to 80 im not doing redeyes or flights involving stops.I REALLY miss it along with the ICE CREAM!I REALLY enjoyed the HU NA races.Tom

I'm glad Tom started that effort and let me co-sponsor the first one, since I love heads-up competition (amateur, not pro). I had to move over to landspeed racing to be involved with it.

Agree with the lack of posts on Norwalk, and I'm as guilty as anybody. But I am planning on going and running with the Nostalgia Super Stock guys. I wouldn't mind trying to qualify for the quick 16 too if that's
allowed. Any guess whether 8.70's will make the field on the door side?

I think the bump last year was low 9s. So yes 8.7 should

OK, I'll bite. I go every year to check out the fast cars and see if anybody sets a new record. Part of me wants our 250 mph to stand forever and part of me wants somebody to raise the bar, for the sake of all Pontiacs.

Any ideas who's gonna step up??

One of the twin turbo efforts should hit the mph record at some point. Takes a great chassis to do it.

I know the Kauffman's rail is getting a new Hemi headed Pontiac powerplant for Norwalk. It makes a BUNCH of horsepower on the dyno. Have to see it they can get it ready in time for the meet.

Not that way now... maybe due to ownership change- idk. Don't like FB cuz all the ads, but said 'majority' has populated and established different venues- damage has been done

Facebook has nothing on this forum. Here threads are started and answers givin in a orderly fashion. FB you get the same regurgitated answers that the last ill informed person repeats. maybe its my age but FB is a horrible way to learn stuff.

You can give good real life experience answers to people's questions and there are 20 inexperienced answers that are the opposite. The masses get praised while the outcome is totally predictable. Wonder why racers with allot of experience don't post? Be real people.

In all seriousness I don't think this is an issue with just PY. Anytime I do a Google search it seems that threads from Websites pop up that are five to fifteen years old or better. If something is current it seems to have little activity. I often wonder if companies cracked down on folks surfing the Net rather than working or maybe with all the remote workers, they do other things rather than kill time on the Internet. One thing for certain there seems to be plenty of folks on FB wanting to share their intelligence on any subject they know little about... It's disappointing.

Everyday that goes by there is less people that care about the 70s Pontiaction and any given day that number is outstripped by the number of people that are slobbering for LSX and hair dryers and if your 20 something you cant blame them its like when you were 20 something getting excited about a flathead V8

I really think this hits the nail squarely on the head. As someone still teaching engine rebuilding, I work with students from 18-80 years old. You work with what had a major impact on your life from age 12-20 for the most part. Those are the cars and engines that stir the most emotion and interest the rest of your life. There are a few exceptions of course. But the demographics don't lie. When Mr. PJ Heck took my friends and I for the "ride of our life" on a cold February day on St. Route 35 in a real aluminum SD-421 Catalina with open headers and slicks and ripped it from 10 to 90 MPH, my life changed forever. That was in the late 1970's. It was as simple as that. It was Pontiac and nothing else.

The Norwalk event as great as it is, has NO CHOICE than to slowly shrink a little each year. With the brand gone for 14 years now, what else can we expect? Studerbakers have been gone allot longer and they still have a few big events each year.

At 69 years young I'm the newbi here. Had my Pontiac for 4 years now. It's a street car that I took to the local track twice this year. I'm bringing it out to Norwalk this year. Been there as a spectator once a couple years ago. I see Friday in tent and a gamblers race. Sat and Sun it's Super Pro, Pro and Street classes so it looks like I'll be running in the street class unless there are any other races going on that weekend. In any case I'm looking forward to going there to have some fun and a good time.

Ive notice on FB some posting info I say 'what' that's not what I read or learned from knowledgeable Pontiac people. At 76 if I would start over in Pontiacs esp racing I would chose a low class car. Fred Davisson told me 61 389 303 hp auto or stick.thats back in late 60s. Now it would probably Firebird with LS power of some sort. I had to ty to build a 63 Lemans 421 SD power then 73 SD455.just saying about racing keep it simple and work to make it faster.

Honestly, that still doesn't make sense to me.

I hope to attend the Pontiac Nationals again - But I want to drive my Firebird when I next attend.
Unfortunately life has changed for me, and I don't honestly know when my car will be done...
(I'd also like to attend TA nationals too... but sitting in a hotel parking lot in the middle of a city has virtually no appeal to me)

When I went to the Pontiac Nationals I drove my FWD Pontiac (Quad4HO powered 'Grand Am) - because I saw myself running out of money while attending the Trans Am Nationals and I didn't want a repeat of that...
I had a much more fun at the Pontiac Nationals BECAUSE I registered my Grand AM in the FWD racing class.
