34th Annual Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals...

...at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. Tentative dates are July 18th-20th, 2025.

sdbob 11-01-2024 07:57 PM

We have our reservations at Best Western, got 2 mos ago.Heard last night rooms are sold out.

Steve Barcak 11-04-2024 09:04 PM

Not positive if I am going, but, through experience, have learned to reserve early. A few days back, found a great deal for 3 nights in Sandusky so, the deals and availability is out there.
I shopped on expedia for reference.
best to book now, you can always cancel insteal of scrambling closer to evenr time as many do.

gtokid1968 11-04-2024 09:31 PM

Just made my reservation and used points my points.
The closer it gets to the date it WILL be harder to find a room and it will have to be money no points.

mrennie 11-04-2024 09:54 PM

I went this year and booked my room at the Sleep Inn the last fall, about 9 months in advance.

Not sure why, but I checked pricing again last January (about 6 months before the show), and total pricing for the 3 nights was actually actually $100+ less than my first reservation. WTF????

So I made a second reservation and when I got the confirmation and was sure I had the right dates, I cancelled the first, more expensive reservation.

Not sure what the deal was, but glad I checked. Booking early is usually cheaper but not that time.

sdbob 01-14-2025 03:14 PM

Golf carts available now. Rumors 'only golf carts' for transportation. I cant confirm though. Also $25.00 fee for golf carts. I heard because of incident at another event, not ours, for insurance costs.

form74 01-14-2025 04:22 PM

Should be interesting how their going to enforce this

They will need a lot of staff to stop everybody from using scooters

Bring mine anyways as it’s why I bought it for Norwalk years ago

Got my golf cart reserved already , share it with another racer but will bring my bicycle also this year

Also 25 dollars for a golf pit cart pass

Yes. A letter was included in my pre-registered packet.

Looks like the little GTO won't be driving around anymore.

TAKerry 01-15-2025 10:00 AM

Looks like a good policy. I have never been to this event but the scooters and such have gotten out of hand at Hershey. Its one thing to be handicapped and needing assistance but shear laziness is another. I have 2 bad knees and cant barely take a flight of stairs but I still manage. And no, being fat is not a handicap.

My Scooter will be for sale in my pit spot

Test rides encouraged :drum:

ponchjoe 01-15-2025 08:49 PM

Having had cars in the show I’m glad to hear they have clamped down on all of the motorized traffic. Pedestrians should have the right of way

johnta1 01-15-2025 09:20 PM

Actually it should be the race cars have the right of way. (at least on the track side)

:)

triathlonx13 02-18-2025 01:09 PM

Getting cars ready - looking forward to this season and Norwalk.

Jack Gifford 02-19-2025 01:32 AM

I was hoping to get to Norwalk this year, but the date conflicts with running the lakester at Loring Maine. Assuming it doesn't explode testing the hemi two-cylinder!

Hey Jack !

Good luck with your build, sounds wild

Scarebird 02-19-2025 07:30 AM

Wife has relatives in Grafton so we will attend. Her uncle and I had a good time last year at Norwalk.

pontiacmark 06-20-2025 06:04 PM

So, I plan on going as I had my reservations since last year. However, I “acquired” some titanium rods yesterday after breaking my femur. So, is there scooter rental available locallly? Looks like mobility scooters are allowed on show field and swap meet side and golf carts on pit side.

Jeff Hamlin 06-25-2025 05:40 PM

I'm looking forward to another great gathering with Fellow Cammers and everything else this event has to offer!

It's our Chapter's 25th.

I'll be hauling from Arizona. Will be set up in the midway with a space and a small 10 by 10 canopy promoting my Pontiac Heaven museum project, race cars, parts cars collection, etc.
Am behind on getting the You Tube channel up and going, maybe by Norwalk, not sure.
Stop by and say hello. I may have a few t shirts to sell too.

GTO JONES 06-27-2025 04:47 PM

Looking for a 69 GTO core support, do you have one. Im in Az.

I probably will not heal well enough to get by without one. Anyone know of a company that rents for the event?

johnta1 07-01-2025 03:07 PM

The golf carts were rented out by these guys:

Quote:

Golf Cart Rentals
Attica Golf Cart Rentals LLC
(419) 912-4028
Please be patient, they will be busy!
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Order by June 1st, limited availability

Can't remember if they had any scooter rentals?
Might give them a call, they may be able to help out.

I'm sure they are sold out of golf carts but still may be able to help, especially if special circumstances?

pontiacmark 07-01-2025 04:42 PM

Thanks, John!

JacintasHot 07-13-2025 06:06 PM

Better be lifeboat rentals available as heavy downpours are forecast

Old Goat Racer 07-15-2025 06:40 PM

Plain and simple answer, NO DIRT BIKES.
Golf carts and scooters only.

That old 61 racecar I've known it since 1986 when it had Eagle GT's on it with 8 lugs and was driven on the street. Current owner had no idea who built that car.

Talked to this dude who wheeled this original paint 64 500 miles from NC or SC. His passed away brother purchased it new. I told him keep sunscreen on it as the "mirror magic" lacquer was fantastic.

Old Goat Racer 07-19-2025 08:25 PM

I was not there today But a very reliable source told me there were many 2- wheeled gas powered bikes and 4-wheelers all over the place. So much for rules.

They were being told to put away, if caught. Seen it in person.

Don't get me started on what I think should happen to all the excess of carts and rude drivers.

sdbob 07-21-2025 10:30 AM

I got some inside info. Its tuff for 2 sides to keep safety and convenience. Witnessed 2 'kids' driving golf carts Sunday around noon. Saw after math of young girl i heard ,jumped the curb near tire shop and hit the tree. You present valid DL at Dornan to get and say you will drive cart(dont know actual wording)soooo. Serious accident and law suit over golf cart accident at another event. Lady was run over ,hurt both legs, and pushed into a fire pit.burnt, driver of golf cart didnt have insurance so lawyer went after track I was told. Truth I'm not sure.

Another great year at Ames Performance Nat's! Found plenty of great parts and bought a few in the swap meet. Pit side was jamming with race cars and manufacturer displays. Even though some may have been scared off by rain forecasted earlier in the week, the weather was very good Thursday-Saturday. If anyone didn't know ahead of time, Ames was accepting orders until last Tuesday evening for delivery at the show (save the shipping costs). Only about 361 days until next year's event! :-)
