Steering column lower bearing

Hi group. On my 67 Firebird, non tilt, non column shift, is there anyway to get some lube on to the lower column bearing without taking the whole thing apart? There's nothing wrong with the bearing but I would like to get some lube on it.

When you say "some lube" what did you have in mind? If there's nothing wrong with it I'm not sure how you'd be able to get anything in there without tearing it apart. They do make replacement bearings for the lower, but not for the one in the upper column, at least they didn't the last time I checked.

I'm just thinking about some grease on the bearings. I'm sure they are dry after all these years
Can that lower bearing be detached (at the bottom of the column tube) and slid down a little toward the rag link?

Here's a couple pics of my column (before and after cleaning). Right above the rag joint coupler and the white ring is where the bearing is, I don't see how you would actually get any grease in there without tearing it apart. Also a couple pics of the bearing assembly itself.

Thank you Sport69 for the advice and photos. My lower bearing is a little earlier and different design. I just took the whole column out and I'm glad I did because it needs cleaning. My lower bearing (GM 7802186) seems like it might be able to be cleaned up and lubricated but I need to learn and see more about it before I pull it apart.
It was all full of rust and dust but seems to be serviceable.

Hotrodjohn71, I'm thinking you did right pulling the column. Might as well do it now, do it right, and save yourself that headache later. I do see that yours is different from the 69's, and it definitely needed a little TLC, I hope you can save it and get some grease into it. Let me know how you make out. Good pictures.
