electric choke insert

This part is sold on www.pontiactripower.com

Also available are electric choke conversions for the 1966 center carb.

Take a look.

I've used electric chokes off Rochester carbs in junk yards. Just make sure the coil moves in the right direction as it heats. It needs to rotate clockwise as you view it from the passenger side of the carb. Some are reverse of what you need, but you can pull off the coil and install it the opposite way.

I just found the one I removed from my 65. If you still need one, PM me.

Most all choke assemblies from other Rochester carbs work on our '65 or earlier Tri-Powers, but you need to be careful. Some choke coils are the reverse of ours, so you need to pull off the coil and install it upside down. I found out when a Tri-Power I restored had the choke close as the engine warmed up instead of opened as it should.

It's easy to check this by heating the coil slightly and observing the direction the tab moves as the coil heats. It needs to move CCW as you look at it from the inside. Same story for electric or stock coil.
