i want to start to reinstall my dash main harness on my 72 formula . i think it makes sense to wire up everything on the dash and then install the dash .
first pic is the rear speaker connector , not sure were this goes , maybe i am missing something from my radio
2nd pic is a wire that seems to come from the rear on the pass side , could it be for my trunk release , not sure were to hook this up also e

many of the wires are not long enough to wire up the dash before installing it & may get in the way when you actually go to install it. i always get the dash installed first with some ducting installed, then wire everything up via the gauge holes &/or from underneath.

did you buy a manual yet? will answer all of these questions.

its coming
do you know were the two connectors in my photos go to

if the first pic is indeed the speaker connector it should go into the back of the factory radio. not sure on the 2nd wire, kinda hard to see the color of the wire, but possibly its the trunk release or if its gray it could be for the under dash courtesy lights or shifter bezel lights.

the good thing about the connectors on these cars is they are shaped to only go to one location, so just find the item that has that shape & thats where it goes... kinda like a jigsaw puzzle.

I think the dashes were installed loaded on the assembly line. I load the harness in the dash and install it in the car before installing the gauges, radio etc. I don’t believe you can get the harness in the channel easily with the dash installed.

thanks for these great photos , it is a great help . did you also install the duck work on the dash

Glad they were helpful. I can probably dig up some before pics as well. Text me your number/email if so - 304.859.7509.

With respect to duct work, you have to do everything other than the dash vent feeds after the dash installation.

Are you dealing with an A/C car? I have never done a dash on an A/C car myself. The non-A/C cars you can install the short little duct on each side that mates with the air valve on the cowl. Just make sure the ducting installs around the air valve properly, it likes to deform easily.

My car is ac. Looks like a lot of duct to try and fit in after

I think that the ductwork may have been installed before the dash is. Not sure on that though.
