Be watching old Highway Patrol Episodes. I bias
Enjoy watching old movies, series. Been recording Highway patrol,Leave It To Beaver, etc. Seeing the 50s car and trucks bring back memories. I'm bias, some of those other brands designs just do not appeal to me at all,'junky' even today. I guess that's why I stayed with Pontiac. The performance , handling, feel, and comfort also made me a Pontiac Enthusiast.

Never heard that song. I read that Broderick Crawford was drinking during the shows from something on net.

That is an awesome song. I remember it from around the 90's on a country music channel video.

If you like Pontiacs...My 3 sons and I dream of Jeanie

been watching old highway
I remember the PSA Crawford did at the end of each episode:
"Remember. Leave your blood at the Red Cross, not on the highway." |
I've been watching Route 66 lately. Chevy provided most of the cars, but occasionally other GM marques show up, including a '61 Bonneville in the second season and more than a handful of Caddys.
Perry Mason also had some nice GM cars (not just Perry, but guests and background vehicles). Back to Highway Patrol, Broderick Crawford was reportedly so loaded during most of the filming that when he would insist upon driving himself, others in the scene(s) would refuse to ride with him. |
I noticed in one Perry Mason the husband and wife had 58 Pontiacs. One looked like it had TriPower chrome. I was watching Crawford in a movie about waterfront corruption, he was an undercover cop. Ernest Borgnine, Neville Brand, and 2 other well known actors I cant think of their names at the moment, I dislike the moment of not remembering.

Crawford actually had a suspended driver's license for DUI's during much of the series. The episodes that show him driving on dirt roads, in rural areas, and on farms, making huge crime ring busts in orchards are indicative of this. I like the 2 door '55 Centurys used in the first season. They were actual CHP cars. Lots of great character actors and actors that would later become more well known. Stuart Whitman was one. Also the sergeant, who later appeared on Dragnet '67 and Adam 12.
