70 grand prix questions

I just got a 70 GP SJ. It is a 9/69 car. It has 69 taillights and a 69 console lid. The car is all original and never wrecked. I was thinking maybe since it's an early car they used some 69 inventory. Anybody else seen this?

Yes, I hauled in broke down for parts a very early built '70 Model J with optional 455 engine. Same deal, '69 taillights.

Yup, not unusual to see carry-over parts.

I'd be surprised that identifiable items that are model year specific would carry over. Things like taillights that were marketed as "new" for 1970 in the brochure would likely preclude using 69 parts on a 70. I'm not saying never but rather unlikely. A lot can happen in 50+ years, GP taillights were prone to cracking even when new so maybe they were replaced under warranty? Or someone changed them later due to an accident, or fading or cracking. Similar with the console lid.
