Pacific NW Engine Builders?

Looking for someone to rebuild a 400 engine. Custom job on a 557 numbers matching block for a 1977 W72 T/A. Nothing too fancy, probably in the neighborhood of 350-370hp. I'm in Central Oregon but happy to travel for the right builder. Thanks!

The guy doing my motor is in Vancouver, WA. It's not done yet and this is my first motor with him so I can't give a recommendation yet. However, he's an old school guy and been at it for a long time and he was recommended to me by a member here. Seems like he does lots of race motors but does street stuff too. When it's done (should be very soon) I'll let you know. He has his own dyno in house. Like everyone else he's backed up close to a year.

Thanks! Yeah, I'd love to hear if it turns out well. I'm about 3.5 hour drive from there. Bought my car not far from there in Oregon City.

If you're talking about Tabor's Automotive Machine, Inc in Vancouver, WA I can confirm that recommendation. I worked with a couple of guys that have used his services for over 20 years building Pontiac motors for drag racing.

No, it's Somers Racing Engines. AKA Somers Automotive Machine.

Richard Tabor and Archie Sommers Racing are both good machine shops that know how to work on Pontiacs. You.wont have any issues with either one.

Thank you for the input everyone.

My son had his 1966 Chrysler 440 machined by Archie Sommers about 2 years ago...Seemed to do a good job...My son and I actually assembled the entire motor and broke it in after Archie did the machining and buying of the parts.

How far from Portland? I am in Nevada but have a friend near Portland who comes down to Nevada quite a bit and could drop it off

Last time I was up there Archie told me he is not taking any more builds. He is over a year out so he stopped taking new work.
