The curse of being old

The curse is that I remember when this forum was filled with knowledgeable people. People like Tom Fischer, Matt, Brew, Roger, Oxley, Ric, 2manyT/A’S, Keith and many more. Guys who been there done it. Guys who know these cars inside and out. All but a few are gone and now we get stuff like “ I heard from my mothers old boyfriend” . The best source of information here is the archives. If your looking for info, correct info is most likely posted there as there are very few new questions. Learn to use the search and a new world of information will be at your disposal.

No-one understands your jokes.

I've learned a lot from you, those you mentioned, and a few others unmentioned. I've had the pleasure of meeting a few of these knowledgeable members in person too.

I loved reading those old threads where the nerdy talk was flying, numbers being mentioned and decoded, and real first world experience was being shared. Fortunately there's still a few guys here who are like this.

I tend to keep quiet and listen. I've always lived by the rule of "If you're talking, you're not listening, and if you're not listening you're not learning".

Pay attention and learn

Kind of a cranky thread. I search function. I recognize the experts. I am not one. I think the 70-73 forum is still a great place.

Who is all gone from the forum now and why?

Yes, there are still plenty of knowledgeable people on this board. As with anything that is aging, and not produced any longer, (Pontiacs) A younger generation will step in to ultimately own these cars. It's up to us to teach the younger generations about them. What you are experiencing is completely normal and some day, you can only hope that those people will be able to remind us elderly of the things we forgot. The student becomes the teacher.

No new questions, huh?
I looked in the archives and didn't find where anyone asked how to fit a rotary engine into a 2nd gen.....

How does a 500 pound gorilla fit a rotary engine in a 2nd Gen Trans-Am?

Any way he wants.

There, it now goes into the archives.

Wow Bill, glad to see you checking in. Hope all is going well with you.

Have always thought that "old" was a state (somewhere around New York) of mind.

Am already a decade past my life expectancy when born and can still "get out and get under" (but have a lift now).
