74-75 exhaust tips
What are the best, closest to original aftermarket exhaust tips for the 74-75 Trans am? I gave up trying to find a nice nos pair for my SD.

I have understood that the only game in town are the 70-73 repops;
I believe Rocky's book shows the real 1974 & 1975 tips. If my memory serves me (because I was schooled in this not too long ago), the 1974 tips were essentially the same as 1970-73 except they were 3" longer (the angle cut was a running change, the parts were supposed to be the same). HERE I found the thread where I was taught more about the tips - and in that thread is a quote from Rocky showing the correct parts. |
Correct 74-75 were longer due to the new Bumper design, so the 70-73's don't extent long enough. different Part #, but same angle as 73's.
|
If I remember right, '74 is not the same as '75.

I think I have a set of Pypes that were never used. Can make you a good deal.

When I bought my 1974 Standard 455 in Sept 1973 I bought another set of tips from Pontiac parts. I'd be willing to sell. Are they are the same as SD? Part number 495832. That number with a NX prefix is stamped on the top of the extensions. They are still in factory boxes. What are they worth?

You would have to open the boxes and see what they look like first. I'd be interested too. |

They are bright chrome with small GM imperfections that were there when new. No rust or pits inside or out. Have been always in climate controlled storage.
|
They are the early edition. Just right for an SD restoration. I'll wait for Original Poster to offer price.
I will add, I thought this was a very good deal... https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=801935 |

Those are the correct ones for it, what are you wanting for them? Thanks |

Sorry, but I did not get second PM, must've gone into spam folder.
How much are you asking for them? I have no idea what to offer, as the Aftermarket does not seem to make many of that size. |
Held for Ramsom, you can have them, if you don’t already. I’ll keep looking somewhere else.
|
Well if you didn't buy them, he must be asking too much for me to purchase.
