Could someone post a picture of where the ball pivot studs are attached to the center carb throttle arm. Those are the ones where the throttle rod and the transmission rod attach on a full sized Pontiac from 1961 through 1964. Thanks.

Here are some 61 picts. But as the pivots system on the firewall changed a couple of times from 61 to 64 yours may not be the same,

Firewall looks the same. It's the connections on the carb I need to see. If you could take the third shot over moving slightly forward it would be great Thanks.

Be aware that I took those other pictures a long time ago. I have since changed to the 61 style progressive linkage and now have 61 style fuel lines. The car is a 61 with a 61 manifold but the carbs are 64. Although I don't think the carb year matters.

Pfilean, just an observation. Looks like your rod and plunger are in backwards, in the "kill someone position". If the rod should slip out of the plunger on the rear carb, it could hang on the intake lob and keep center carb jammed open. like I said, JAO.

Thanks, I appreciate your concern. The tube portion is on the rear carb and the rod portion in the center carb which I believe was the generally the "safest" arrangement.

That was the first thing that I looked at and was happy that the installation was correct.

I have posted that I had a magazine picture years ago (1966 Pontiac advertising) that showed it incorrectly and I swapped to that configuration. I then later had a jammed linkage and a high rpm issue. I reached over to the key and turned the ignition off.

Fortunately on the 64 Lemans, Tempest, and GTOs the ignition key is very easy to access and shut off.

Yes, You are correct. It was 1965 vs 1966 but might have also been it a B-car sales brochure.

Yep, when the center carb closes quickly, the incorrect locations allow the plunger to come out of the tube,
fall down, (and wedge) the secondary carb throttle blades open when it locks into the heat riser cross-over passage.

The brochure I have is for 65 and limited to GTO and 2+2. Really a performance-oriented brochure. There are two pictures that show the linkage. One in GTO section and one in 2+2 section. Both have linkage wrong and probably the same engine anyway. But the publication department was probably not as concerned with accuracy as the engineering department may have been.

If there was a 50/50 chance that it was installed correctly for a picture, the Pictures guys did that.
Because the Tube and Plunger parts were SD parts or over the counter "Kit Parts" in 1964 and earlier,
it was easy to make a mistake.

Even the mounting for the 64 GTO and Big Car was not described well and for years
people modded the Extension arm on the center carb to mount the linkage.

Dick B sells the right parts based on information provided on a Original Rochester Products set of parts with ALL of the correct pieces.

Go to Dick B for the correct parts for 64 A body and B body conversions.
