70 GTO carpet trimming question
 

I am putting new carpet in my 70 GTO. My question is where to trim the carpet at the rear 1/4 arm rest area. Do I trim to the angle point. I posted 2 pics of the area of my question

That's what I did. I tucked the carpet under the trim best I could to conceal cut edges.

Here is another question. How far does the carpet go under the door sill plate? Here are some pics of the area.

I went to about the point I see in your pic. To allow the screw to not have to penetrate the carpet.

I just left a raw edge in front of the rear armrest panel. It seemed weird but was all I could figure out. Maybe it was supposed to be tucked under that "triangle-shaped" vinyl flap but then it would be weird under the sill plate.

As to the edge under the sill plate, here's my factory carpet and a reference suggesting the screws pass through the carpet. I can't see why it would matter though..

That's what I do, go all the way to the body 'ridge' under the sill plate. I use a soldering iron to make holes for the sill plate screws, as well as other screws/bolts that pass thru the carpet.

On that 'triangle' piece, I've tried it a few ways, only way that really works is butted up against the 'triangle' piece, going rearward, tucked under the rear arm rest panel. I leave it slightly long under that U bend in the sill, just standing up, which helps keep it from being pulled out from under it. You can use the soldering iron trick against the edge there along the 'triangle' and forward if you want to help prevent frazzle.

A heat gun on the back of the carpet helps when trying to make it sit better in certain contours of floor pan, if you want to go that far.
