Anybody have leather interior in their 70 grand prix? Are the sail panels different than standard interior? I have been told the sail panels have a engraved pattern but I need some help??

Here is my sail panels out of my 69 Grand Prix with leather
|
the '70 leather interior does not use the embossed sail panel like the '69 has. i believe it is the same as the non leather interior.
|
the leather interior in the 70 is unusual in that it uses the 69 gold interior color (different seat patterns of course) rather than one of the 1970 interior colors.

I have factory leather interior in my 70 GP. I will take a couple of pictures when I get home.

Beautiful car. Thanks for the pictures. Is the raised area applied or part of the panel?
|
It’s part of the panel. It’s made that way.

If you mean the sail panels on the C pillar they are molded and shrink wrapped in grained vinyl. Unlike regular GP’s it is not covered with headliner material but the same vinyl like on the door panels.

Interior parts
Any luck finding the black 70 grand prix interior parts?

A buddy of mine had these made at SMS in Oregon. They may still have the pattern for them?

My supposed to be original leather interior has different panels...my panels match the interior roof, identical material....????
|
Check your trim tag on the firewall for the interior code. it will tell you if it’s a leather interior car or not.
|
I have seen them both ways on '70 GP's. May be an early/late production thing.

A little hard to see, but here's an April of '70 built SJ survivor with factory leather and standard sail panels.

Thanks to everyone for their support and input. Does anyone have an embossed panel that I can buy or borrow to have it copied? I just got my leather covers back from SMS and would like to get the side panels done My SJ 70 GP is a September 69 build so I need the embossed panels. My original ones were not in the car when I got it. Whole headliner had been ripped out

Did you ask SMS about doing the molded sail panels? My friend Richard and member here had them make new ones for him so they may already have the pattern on file.
|
SMS is saying they need more info like the customer and when so they can check their files
|
His name is Richard Sharp, billing date was 5/7/2013. Charlie was guy he was working with there at SMS. And they were $125 a pair then.
|
Thanks for the help

Just heard from SMS. They still have the pattern. They are sending me a quote
