63 GP turn signal switch?
 

fired up the GP on saturday and was checking all the lights. turned on right turn signal and front and back worked. went to switch to left and right stayed on. doesn't seem to do anything when moving lever. any ideas where to start? i do not see any switches or parts listed in ames catalog for 63. btw its a tilt column if makes any difference. thanks

I got a switch from this seller for my 62, the bracket looks like it is a nice original, and the plastic housing looks NOS and the spade terminals are brand new. I have to send my bracket back to get a $50 core back so I found it very reasonable price wise.

63-65 B body Pontiac Tilt switch switch should be the same. Not sure about other makes.

There's a wire cable next to the steering column that falls off the switch. Just climb under there and put it back on. No tools needed.

i'm also guessing this is not automatic cancelling?

The cable just slips off the black pin as I have circled in red. I put it back on mine about every six months. Takes less than 5 min.

cable was off. i put it back on but when i went to try it only left came on. have to figure out how to adjust it. you would think they would have had a better way to attach it. thanks for the help

Can't help there. When I put mine back on, both sides work until it slips off again. Happens every 6 months to a year.

Wonder if you could put one of those inner tooth lock washers on it, the kind that hold the heater cables to the actuator in most cars. Forget the technical name.

I would operate the switch with your finger on the switch post first with the cable off. If both right and left work, it has to be the cable, lever, or some adjustment. If it doesn't work on both sides, the switch contacts themselves are the problem, or the sockets and bulbs, or wiring/connector to the switch. As far as keeping the cable on the switch post, I would push a tinermans clip over the post to keep the cable from falling off.

That is what they had. They call them a fingered speed nut

I should also do that. It just doesn't come off often enough that it really warranted doing anything with it. That's an easy fix though.
