Band clamps on pypes system

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I am installing Pypes SGF70 2.5 exhaust on my 68 bird. Weird question, I am using the Summit 2.5 inch band clamps and they don't seem to fit all that well, if you look at the attached picture I have to use an impact gun to get them even close to sealing.

I used band clamps on my Pypes lemans system and they seem to seal all the way, I don't remember it being so much of a force fit.

Anyone use Summit 2.5 inch band clamps on their SGF70 install?

Thanks!

Although I don't have Pypes tubing, I used the Summit 2.5" band clamps in one location (per side) on my '66 where the tailpipe slips into the over-axle part. Worked great for me. I used my impact gun to snug them down. No big deal.

Just started reading reviews on these clamps, evidently I am not the only one having this issue, lots of complaints about them being too small. Wish I had read them but I used the same clamps 10 years ago and they worked just fine.

Call Summit and ask for a refund or exchange. This isn't the 1st offshore product with which they have had issues.

There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the clamps OP received, and the 2 or 3 reviews on Summit saying they received something that didn't fit quite right are numerous years old and are ouliers amidst all the highly favorable reviews.

They work well.

I use those band clamps all the time building exhaust systems, however I never tried the summit brand. I always run up to Napa and buy them. Always work as advertised.
