Whats a Perfect Original 69 TA Hood Worth These Days

Got lucky this weekend and picked up a near perfect original 69 TA hood with scoops and tubes. What are they bringing these days?

What someone is willing to pay. High is 10 grand with all the pans. Low would be around 3500.00 is my guess.

Several have sold without the tubes in the 6-mid 7's range lately. The 10k number did not include the pans or tubes (from what I know of the deal) but was at the peak several years ago.

I would say you got lucky - post a picture.

I'll post some pics tonight after work.

Believe it or not it was on the Denver Craigslist for more then a day before I saw it and called. Nobody had called on it before me, I told the guy I would send him a deposit and pick it up in a couple of weeks the first time I talked to him. Then I thought about it for a few minutes and called him back and said I was going to drive the 300 miles the next day to pick it up. That turned out to be a very good decision, as I was driving down he had a dozen calls all wanting to buy it. He had bought it more then 20 years ago, he was going to clone a TA way back then.

Good call!... and nice score.

so what did you have to pay for it?

Nice find!!! Still can't believe people don't put that kinda stuff on ebay on one of these forums. What are your plans for it?

What I can't believe is nobody that lives in the Denver area didn't call in the 1st 24 hours. I thought for sure it would be gone when I called. I knew it was worth more then what he was asking but I didn't know how much. I was thinking I might put it on my 69 which is currently under restoration but if the value is as high as the guesstimates on here I don't think that would be smart. If/when I sell it I may have to send the guy some more money.

I think one on ebay just sold for 6k which I thought was good money.

with the repros out(and the economy) the prices have fallen.
I say if you paid about what the repros go for you got a killer deal.

I went to the Ebay completed items and the one on there went for $6500. That one sounded like it had some issues and didn't have the sccops or tubes. So do the original scoops or tubes ever come up for sale? what does a set go for? I've been reading some previous posts on the repo hoods, it sounds like they are pretty easy to spot. I know if I had an original 69 TA I would want a original 69 TA hood. How many of the original 69 TA's are accounted for? Thanks for everybodies imput.

I believe the last count of original TA's on the road 2009 (or close to it) was 120. The TA registry site link is gone.

I think there are more hoods than cars. The 6500 he got for the hood was strong in todays market. I paid 6k for one a few years back and would not pay that today.

who comes up with that bs figure???? i guarantee you that there are alot more than that still alive.

frankyboy455 01-27-2011 07:28 AM

I know the registry no longer works but is it still out there somewhere ? I remember taking a look at it a few years ago, but can't remember if the VINs were there to be seen. Maybe the 120 count is the quantity that was on the registry ? If that is so, I'm sure there are a lot more, it's not every car guy (let alone 69 T/A guys) that is on internet...

Frank.

What about the T/A registry? Who ran\runs it and how do we keep it alive?
